This gen is the best so far....

Nobody is saying its a must have, but the question of is it financially viable is certainly open for debate, I certainly think there is a business model to make it viable, I also agree its the console platforms that create the barriers, not the developers.

Destiny was never run on servers, its peer to peer, and Destiny 2 is so much in question it may never happen.

Warframe having their servers fuller with happy gamers leads to more money, milking existing customers is easier than getting new ones.

If it wasn't wanted, or a money maker no one would have bothered trying it, and they have and its still growing.

 

@Shigurui. Yeah, I was talking more about cross platform between ms and Sony. Bot companies will venture into cross platform with PC.....Just not with eachother, which is a shame.

 

@Goat, but based on Shiguruis post I would assume, xbox is way behind PS, yet MS is putting everything in place to make it more viable for cross platform to PC, even without cross console play, yet its not happening, seems a little odd to me.

Will be interesting to see which consoles team up with the new nintendo machine.

 

There is no reason for it not to happen, I'd say the majority of people on all platforms would want it. Why they're dragging their feet is a mystery...... Well, saying that, ms is after xbox taking off on pc, which I doubt will happen. So I guess they're
hoping to have their own thing with sony not being invited.

The whole xbox on pc thing is just a waste of time, people won't bother just like a lot of people don't bother with ea origin and uplay..... Even though that means missing out on some games. They should just forget it and focus on the console and games.

 

I like the xbox app on PC, but agree passed that its pointless. Infact I have have a party on my PC to chat with people on xbox one, but not play with them, just seems like a good idea got shelved.

It is a mystery, as is so many things with MS.

The only thing I can think of, which goes back to Tzars point is MS just make it to expensive, although the price difference between rocket league on PC and Console is fairly close which is nice but uncommon.

 

Playing Shadowrun with PC users while on 360 was really fun. There was an achievement called "brother from another mother" if you killed a PC user. lol

 

please tell me of a game as hard as ghost and ghouls on the 360, ps3,ps4...

and thats just ONE SNES game i tossed my controllers so many times

 

That game is really hard. Viking on X1 is pretty tough.

 

I'd say Trials Fusion is pretty hard too. But nowadays I don't like games that are hard as I like to just relax and enjoy the game.

 

@DWoodbine. Same here, to much of a challenge takes the fun out of it for me.

 

I am the other way round, I like the challenge, but Trial Fusion is another level, although you watch the pro's and they make it look easy.

However Destiny made its name for gameplay by making gameplay easy, so a lot to be said for it.

 

I disagree this gen has been terrible, underpowered basic pc hardware, games filled with dlc that cost more then the game itself, lack of investment in experamental games, anti consumer lock outs.

The 360 ,ps2,n64,snes were much better platforms.

 

@Hairylovespuds - I also did the 512k Amiga upgrade and got the extra floppy, I spent endless hours on Ports of Call, Speedball 2, Nitro, D&D pools of radiance, Rainbow islands, switchblade 2 and Celtic legends. Shoe boxes full of copied games on verbatim
floppies, it was an awesome error and I still own the same amiga.

Just grab Your X-Copy and off you go. Used to break the copy protection sector on a Floppy Disc in seconds...

There really is nothing like it now. The advent of having a gaming machine that you could actually code on, gave rise to some interesting games, and computer boundries being pushed. I remember seeing the Vector Demos and being amazed, And when i saw Spaceballs
- State of the Art Demo. My jaw dropped.

But the Jesus'on E's music demo was astounding. 1.44 Meg and the Mix lasted 29 minutes. I have it in Protracker and MP3 format, It is a classic.

And games. Loved Megalomania, Lotus Esprit Turbo Challenge, Rainbow Islands, Pang, Monkey Island 1 and 2 (11 Disks), Chaos Engine, Synicate, Beneath a Steel Sky. And my all time fave Snooker game. Jimmy Whites Whirlwind Snooker.

I think because there was no License Fee's and really anybody could make games. It pushed more boundries, game wise. Like the way a few Indi games do now. (I say a few, because some of them are utter tosh, But that's not saying AAA games are any better)

I have 1000's of Modules from the Amiga. On so many discs. Got them transferred to my PC Now. It will always hold a special place in my heart................... TURRICAN..... HA HA HA HA
