Because of the adult themes I'm a little hesitant to get this game for my teenager. Is there a way to turn of the cursing and avoid the sexual situations in this game. Are the sexual references only in cut scenes or do you have to participate in them as
part of the story?

The same question also applies to GTA IV.

I wouldn't recommend it to anyone younger than 16 or so. There's no way to turn off the cursing, and the game probably has more f-bombs than Scarface. It's also very violent -- there's one extended torture scene, for example, that's part of a mission and
can't be skipped.

As far as the sexual situations go, there's more nudity in V than IV (although IV does feature full-frontal male nudity in one cutscene). There are some sexual situations in the cutscenes (that can be skipped, but then you also miss out on the storyline).
But most of the nudity and sexual situations are on the side and not mission-based, like going to the club and getting a lap dance from a topless stripper or picking up a prostitute for a bj.

If you let your kid watch violent R-rated movies, then he's not going to see anything in GTA he hasn't seen in the movies. If not, you should probably wait a few years.

 

Depends how old this teenager is and like Jet mentioned under 16 no, but over yes. At 16 or over these days have witnessed or experience that kind of verbal expression and the sexual content wasn't full on and would likely see more on a PG 13 or M movie.
As long as your teen understands that the game is just a game and knows the difference between it and reality, I see no harm in it.

 

It comes down to whether or not you think he/she is mature enough..

 

I gotta correct you on one thing there Jet City. The scene where you film the actress getting it from behind is story based. There is also the male nudist cult colony in the hills, The playboy mansion in the city. Both have nudity. There are even random
partys in people backyards or on the side of a hill all with topless women. These last three can be discovered by just exploring around the map. There is even Lazlow going after jail bait (Michaels daughter). I think a 16 year old can handle it but for the
record there is a reson why it has a 18+ rating.

 

Well if your a conservative parent I recommend not buying the game. Or just turn the sound down

 

If the OP is an ACTUAL adult asking for a sincere response, then the answer is of course a genuine and respectful NO! If your child is a "teenager", you shouldn't even be looking at getting this game for him. I don't care how much he cries, shouts, screams,
or how big that temper tantrum is he is throwing, the point is that this game is NOT for him, and if YOU get it for him despite the fact of what I've just explained, then you are a fool!

I say this not for just you but for EVERY PARENT! Kids should not be playing GTA games! Every time I hear a child curse, scream, laugh, or even insult a player on this game, I cringe a little because it does not just show "bad parenting" but you are also
trying to find an easy way to "babysit" your kids. Violent video games != a good babysitter, so please check yo' self before you wreck your kid! Peace!
