Third Party/Usb charged controller Sticky but not physically.

the plug n play charge battery is the same for both, it is the charging cable that is different. the series x version comes with a USB C cable and the standard xbox one comes with a micro usb cable.

i couldnt get the usb c version for my series controller so i just bought the xbox one version and use a third party usb c cable for charging.

this is due to the charging station and its batteries being third party, they don't have the required connections to the pin array int he controller, the charge station batteries will have external pins on them so when the controller sits on the mount it then charges the battery.

only official plug and play batteries from microsoft can charge via the usb on the controller, they do this through different pins internally.

Have you tried a different micro-USB cable? You can find these cables nearly everywhere, even at the dollar store. Perhaps the current cable you have has some wear, with slight movements causing a physical disconnection at the port?

Alternative solutions to consider would be to get rechargeable batteries (Play & Charge Kit, or rechargeable AA's), or get a third-party Xbox One controller (all are hard-wired).
