Thinking of getting a second xbone for my son.

So I'm thinking of getting a second xbone for my son. He has a child account on my box now, and I think it would be fun to play destiny, Diablo, etc together. My question is:

If I get a second console for the house, and put both mine and his child account on it, will I also be able to play Xbox live with him and share games? I don't want to have to pay for 2 memberships, 2 of each game, etc. if so, I'll probably get battlefront,
and wrap it all up in a Christmas present we can enjoy together.

Infamous Second Son just destroys Xbone, the graphics are something Xbone will never be able to do. It's a no brainer what to get - PS4.

 

Online multiplayer

I have a Xbox one and I'm thinking of getting a Xbox one s for my son. Is it possible to play multiplayer with him online without buying 2 copies of the game?

 

You can Gold share your account with him if you add him to an Xbox Family.

But I'm not sure you can play with/against him online.

 

If you buy your games digitally then you and your son can both play the same game at the same time but if its disc then you need two copies

When you get your 2nd Xbox One, you'll need to decide which Xbox you'll be playing on and which will be for your son.

The easiest way to do it (or at least it would be for me):

Log your account into one of the Xboxes, make it the one that your son will use. Make sure that Gold Sharing is turned on, then add his account under the Family area and set this Xbox as your 'Home Xbox'. Log out of this console.

Now log into the other console, this will be the console you will be playing on. You will want to make sure you do not make this console your Home Xbox. You can still do everything you do on your Home Xbox. If you purchase Digitally, anything you purchase
will also download to your Home Console, which your son will be playing on and your son will be able to play it with you. He doesn't need a Gold account, as long as Gold Sharing is on.

One thing you will want to make sure of, don't change your Home Xbox back and forth between them unnecessarily. You can only reassign a console as your Home Xbox 3 times a year.

Just as a bit of Christmas advice... you may want to consider opening up the stuff and getting as much of it set up as you can before Christmas. Between the console and its updates and the game(s) and updates... It can eat up a big chunk of the day, if not
all of it. You can always pack it back up and wrap it... if you're sneaky... nobody will know. Definitely something I'd consider if it were me.

 

^^^ Great advice, agree opening up the games, installing them and doing any updates would really make a difference on xmas day, and mean a very happy son and not one watching the screen saying is it done yet.
