Thief looks better on Xbox One than PS4 Analysis

So resolution is NOT the be all end all some think it seems, how is it that the Xbox One version is keeping up with the PC version better than PS4?

some games will look better on Xbox, and some will look better on PS4, people obsess too much

Avoiding Games By "Lazy" Developers

yh flashed look at the mighty ps4 with thief and the underpowered xbox one playing thief at 900p yet it looks better on the underpowered console compared to the oh so mighty ps4 pmsl

Actually n7 I'm pretty sure thief is 900p on xbox one. As stated here....

It's not like there's a HUGE HUGE HUGE difference (unless you pull out a magnifying glass to make a pixel to pixel comparison). Xbox 1 has both DDR3 and ESRAM the latter has a higher bandwidth maybe the game developers have learnt how to use both effectively.
As long as you enjoy the console your gaming with that's what matters. And the fact that Xbox Live is awesome. It's not only the resolution but also the textures and frame rates.

 

No there is not a huge difference, but im just pointing out how some games will look slightly better on Xbox and some on PS4, resolution is one of many factors of graphical rendering

that the xbox one is better than the ps4 is your opinion. Again the same with some other game comparison videos. It depends on what you like for graphics.

I personally prefer the ps4 versions in the comparison for a couple of reasons. The serious crushed blacks and contrast issues that the Xbox One seems to have.

Again it is all down to preference. Whether you like one or the other. The game in essence is still the same. Wroth is gameplay and that is what matters the most.

I have stated a few times. I like my gamma swing reasonably high. So I can see into the blacker parts off a game. Whereas the Xbox One had more contrast and seems crisper.

 

The flag on Digital Foundry's comparison looks pretty much real life on Xbox One and PC, but is a blurry mess on PS4.

It looks like this generation games will look better on Xbox One in some cases and PS4 in others. Tomb Raider is definitely proof that PS4 can run games better in some cases (60 vs 30), whereas Thief is a good example of a game running better on Xbox One
with better AA and textures.

To be honest I'd rather stick with one platform. If games look 0.01% better on PS4 I won't be crying in my sleep, and likewise if they look 0.01% better on Xbox One I won't be parading through the streets.

SMH at the poor optimisation though.

 

Well, now we can have a good old fashioned tug of war over who has the better looking games. That still wont shut up the PS4 die-hards though, that I can guarantee you.

Sorry to cut this one short people but this is plain comparison and we all know how they eventually end up. I'm not trying to stop the fun here but I lock comparisons that favour towards the PS4 so of course it is only fair that I do the same for Xbox One.
Personally I couldn't see much difference at all and I think both versions look spectacular. As time goes on there will be more and more videos like this cropping up that try to pit gamers against each other and I disagree with that.



If you're a fan of PS4, great.

If you're a fan of Xbox One, great.

If you're a fan of WiiU, great.



All platforms will deliver great quality games. It can't be simpler than that. A little bit of resolution cut doesn't make a game any less enjoyable. Or at least that is how I see this.
