@Silvercube ~ Dude are you kidding? The two platforms are nothing alike. They are leagues apart in terms of lifespan, content delivery, digital libraries, apps, services, and Xbox Live overall. Expecting 360 "support" insofar as retaining consumers' (sizeable
and $$$ expensive) digital libraries (built up over years) to just abruptly end in a year or two, or five years is ridonculous. The ability to stream games is a reality you know... the hardware will barely matter. lol

The thing I don't get about comments in this thread and elsewhere is people are almost throwing a license at huge corporations to wipe away digital content whenever they launch anything new. lmao What are people getting dumber with each new technological
leap? That they can't now conceive of some semblance of ownership even in licensed digital software?

Wow.

They're almost saying, "Hey giant corp, you know how I spent THOUSANDS of dollars building my digital library? Well if you go ahead and manufacture a new platform it's fine with me if you want to make me pay for it all again."

Xbox One mark II. Launched 2016 to support higher resolutions and with more RAM. All previous Xbox One games will be delisted and not supported by 2018. Because, "C'mon people... the Xbox One Mark I is dead! Move on. Microsoft shouldn't be supporting the
platform or its content. Or the library their customers built up. So delist the library and let's all move on together." /exaggeration

I don't mean to sound rude but it's frankly stupid to compare the 360 to the original Xbox dude. They are leagues, planets, GENERATIONS apart. The 360 to the Xbox One is basically the final leap from console to PC in a box... 360/PS3 was a transitional period,
and original Xbox has nothing in common with them save the ability to play games. New gen is PC hassle too, all patches, updates, changes and problems and on and on.

Also like with PC... digital libraries...

... actual content worth actual money that actual customers own. Not something you want to be fine with a company erasing. lol maybe you're fine with it because your library isn't so big or you haven't spent as much money on last gen. Well maybe you'll spend
more this gen... so being fine with somebody erasing the last load of digital content will set a dodgy precedent for the future of the content you think you're buying to own... today... on this gen. =)

It makes sense for a company that used to boast having the "largest selection of games" to retain its old library and streaming that old content too. Think of all those Arcade games, many of which are better than new games coming to the X1's Arcade store...
they're not going to age overnight and drop into the ether. If you own them now you can play them in the future, on your Live account, if they're still listed you can buy them in the future with your Live account... and the choice of content just grows for
the consumer.

Dead? Take the number of people still using the Xbox 360 and divide that by 3... thats how many people are on Xbox One. Look up the statistics yourself. There's a ton of more people on Xbox 360.

And no, I'm not getting the Xbox One. Not for a while, because there are tons of games that are not compatible with the Xbox One. You guys have such a short list of games available compared to Xbox 360. Plus, the Xbox One isn't that much better than the
360. Slightly better graphics and bigger hard drive. OOooo yeah let me bust out 400 bucks for that. No thanks.

My point is, Xbox One was fixed after 4 hous. It's almost been 24 hours and Xbox 360 is still having issues. This is unacceptable, Sony doesn't treat their PS3 like it's dead.

This is simply Microsoft trying to coax people into buying a the Xbox One. As if to say "Yeah, we fixed the Xbox One first because they're more important. Just another great reason to buy your Xbox One today"

I agree with your points Argontheos but this is more idealistic, not realistic. Microsoft have probably already considered this, and they might argue that your past content is always there so it's up to you to access it.

What company is keeping tabs on its older generations? They don't, because they don't have the time or resources and the marketing would be stupid. I agree, however the idea is for a utopia we aren't living in.

^^ It's not about keeping tabs on older tech/generations man. It's about people spending money on digital but having their perception stuck in "original Xbox" terms. Steam DO keep track of what operating systems people are using, but when support drops for
one and the percentage of users follows they don't delist however many years of games from the database that only had "support" tied to those operating systems. lol

Because people own that sheet!

If 360 owners with huge libraries allow Microsoft to conflate the word "support" with the availability of the video games digitally... then they will truly earn the moniker "console-tards" and they'll be setting themselves - and future gamers - up or a world
of hurt down the line in terms of ownership. The word "buy" may as well take the definition from the word "rent".

Did you hear Limbo is available for rent on the Xbox One now?

If Steam removed ten years worth of games the consumer feedback wouldn't be pretty, it wouldn't be, "Oh well I guess that was inevitable I don't really own that stuff anyway." It would be horrific and ugly. lol... and it's a fact that the majority on Steam
have played less than 10% of the games they own.

*psssh* Uh, there's some static. Repeat your last soldier. *psssh*

*psssh* OWN... sir... OWN.... OSCAR. WHISKEY. NOVEMBER.... OWN! As in PWN... as in "I pwn that sheet! Get your mitts off it!" *pssh*

Well we can still access our old games if we have the means to it still, and that's as much as we are gonna get.

I'm already concluding this with the fact that I agree with what you're saying, no one here should be disagreeing, we're all in the same metaphorical boat aren't we, tell this to Microsoft. I don't know what good telling a huge conglomerate does this days,
this is capitalism, consumerism, and the public are happy to go along with it, you wouldn't change much rebelling against it.

+1 dude. Yeah! {=D Well there is the feedback thing, so I suppose Microsoft is open to suggestions.

If Xbox One owners are open to suggestions I would suggest they use the feedback system to get some kind of rebates via the Rewards program on Xbox One games they already own in their 360 Arcade libraries (purchased at certain dates so as not to include
the falling prices in more recent days), and perhaps having the 360 versions removed from their download options/download histories.

The one thing for sure that the original Xbox didn't have... is a surge in stylised, low-budget and independent games like Fez, Braid, and Limbo and so on -- these games won't age for as long as games are played on a TV with a controller. So forget just
the regular 360 library that looked dated the moment it launched compared with PC versions, and sporting jaggies and pants draw distances...

These other games, dubbed "Arcade" last gen, aren't demanding great hardware to run and yet they're being ported and resold on a new platform, with no new content or heightened quality... to a bunch of Xbox Live Gold subscribers - those committed customers
- who already own them.

What is that? lol

Rebates, rewards, and a thanks for following us onto a new platform and buying all the same content is in order. IMHO I don't own a Xbox One so meh... it's just a suggestion, but Xbox Live Gold subscribers are paying annual fees for the service. What they're
not doing is dishing out hundreds of pounds/dollars to borrow games for as long as a platform tied to the subscription service is relevant.

Preach preach lengthy-post blah... lol... and so on. Even I'm tired of my posts. lol *shuts up* {=D

I recently got an Xbox One so yeah I would agree and say us who own one should, and to answer your question, that's simply capitalism, as its finest, their care goes as far as you pay them, and they know some of us will do just that because it's not much,
so spend our currency here and there, which adds up as we know.

Most are frightened of change so it would take a lot or a serious mistake on the company's part to make everyone want to change, it's simply a case of being too much effort for most.

Hah, it's good to express observation, just be careful not to turn your post into a tl;dr for the general readers They fix Xbox One first and put 360 to the side. :p

Argonuntheos is quite correct here. The original Xbox began the experience of online gaming, and that's as far as it went. You played your games online. The next generation revolutionized the console's online features with the marketplace and everything
it adds, arcade games, digital copies of games, add-ons, avatar stuff, etc. Then came update after update of almost unlimited new applications. People, including myself, used their 360 for almost every form of media entertainment. I spent a lot of money buying
digital games and even TV shows and full feature movies. The original Xbox had none of this besides, if memory serves, a very limited marketplace that only began near the consoles demise. Not many owned actual Live accounts on the original system. Come the
360, the amount of paying members for their Live service multiplyed exponentially and astronomically. Each Gold member subscriber is a paying customer and with the countless amount of paying cunsumers, they won't just drop and abandon the 360. The former generation
just isn't a viable comparison.

I don't see why media apps need you to be logged into Live. You have to enter your account details for the companies such as Amazon or Netflix, so surely that should be enough.

@Argontheos: I guess we shall see what it will be for the future :)

Having been with the Xbox brand for so long, I'm just going with my intuition. I would love for my intuition to be inaccurate!
It's to be expected - Microsoft abandoned the Original Xbox pretty quickly after the Xbox 360 released.

Even though the Xbox 360 won't be abandoned as quickly, more resources are probably dedicated to the Xbox One.
I wish people would stop talking about this as if it's a similar platform to previous generations. There is no comparison between the original Xbox and the 360. By "supporting" the 360 Microsoft is talking about developing games and updating services. Abandoning
a platform tied to a service on which people own hundreds/thousands of dollars/pounds/yen/rupees/gilt/chocolate coins in games and software - it isn't going to happen any time soon.

When support drops it'll be in multiplayer (which could conceivably move over to private PC servers a la Warframe) and in updates and new releases. The Live service will be around for ever, and your 360 library will be forever tied to your account. Unless
maybe ten-fifteen-twenty years down the line it's pertinent and cost-effective to remove the library. But emulation software could be released on newer platforms and that old library could still be there like old PC games on the Steam client.

If I had to guess I'd say the 360's installed-base is currently larger than the X1's. Tens of millions of people. lol Unlike the original Xbox people use third-party apps on the 360 for Netflix-like entertainment - in place of regular set-top boxes. So
again: the 360 and in turn the support provided for it isn't comparable to the original "I'm a games console I do nothing else" Xbox.

So there's that. Stop doing the whole "well with the old Xbox they did this..." lol

The topic: There are issues currently on the 360-side. Favouritism isn't being shown here, lol, any aspect of the Live service being down reflects poorly across the entire service whatever the platform. Microsoft aren't happy with it being down and they're
not trying to screw you -- it's bad for business. Services have problems!

They could be beefing up security, prioritising processes, tweaking the purple signals to the mothership, or hell creating the Grid from Tron with the help of Flynn. Maybe some fat dude dropped slimy pizza onto a terminal or USCM troops have been dispatched
to deal with a bug outbreak on the planet R3D-M0ND.

OP: Just because you're affected doesn't mean the entire installed-base is... and just because the issue is with the 360 doesn't mean Microsoft is showing favouritism to the X1. lol That notion is almost absurdly... cartoonish.
