Dropped Xbox 360

Hello everyone I dropped my Xbox 360 on my fireplace I put it vertical on my fireplace mantle then I tried to put my A/V cables in then it dropped off the fireplace mantle to the fireplace my sliding to my Xbox 360 came off one side the other side okay how
can I fix this I can see my hard drive.I bought my Xbox last year in July.I think it's a Xbox 360 slim it's black I bought a 4 GB Xbox 360 kinect bundle.

Shouldn't need to try it. The games work the same way - a console license and a gamertag license. The first console to download the game on the 360 side gets the console license. The purchasing gamertag's "home" console on the Xbox One side gets the console
license. As long as the 360 gamertags have Live Gold the game will work on the 360 side. Xbox One "home" consoles can share Gold so it shouldn't be required on the Xbox One side.

 

It's to be expected - Microsoft abandoned the Original Xbox pretty quickly after the Xbox 360 released.

Even though the Xbox 360 won't be abandoned as quickly, more resources are probably dedicated to the Xbox One.

With the outrage of the copious online issues that Master Chief Collection shipped with (which is a Microsoft owned company), they probably don't want any more prolonged Xbox One issues, so working to fixing Xbox One first would have to be a higher priority.

I wish people would stop talking about this as if it's a similar platform to previous generations. There is no comparison between the original Xbox and the 360. By "supporting" the 360 Microsoft is talking about developing games and updating services. Abandoning
a platform tied to a service on which people own hundreds/thousands of dollars/pounds/yen/rupees/gilt/chocolate coins in games and software - it isn't going to happen any time soon.

When support drops it'll be in multiplayer (which could conceivably move over to private PC servers a la Warframe) and in updates and new releases. The Live service will be around for ever, and your 360 library will be forever tied to your account. Unless
maybe ten-fifteen-twenty years down the line it's pertinent and cost-effective to remove the library. But emulation software could be released on newer platforms and that old library could still be there like old PC games on the Steam client.

If I had to guess I'd say the 360's installed-base is currently larger than the X1's. Tens of millions of people. lol Unlike the original Xbox people use third-party apps on the 360 for Netflix-like entertainment - in place of regular set-top boxes. So
again: the 360 and in turn the support provided for it isn't comparable to the original "I'm a games console I do nothing else" Xbox.

So there's that. Stop doing the whole "well with the old Xbox they did this..." lol

The topic: There are issues currently on the 360-side. Favouritism isn't being shown here, lol, any aspect of the Live service being down reflects poorly across the entire service whatever the platform. Microsoft aren't happy with it being down and they're
not trying to screw you -- it's bad for business. Services have problems!

They could be beefing up security, prioritising processes, tweaking the purple signals to the mothership, or hell creating the Grid from Tron with the help of Flynn. Maybe some fat dude dropped slimy pizza onto a terminal or USCM troops have been dispatched
to deal with a bug outbreak on the planet R3D-M0ND.

OP: Just because you're affected doesn't mean the entire installed-base is... and just because the issue is with the 360 doesn't mean Microsoft is showing favouritism to the X1. lol That notion is almost absurdly... cartoonish.

Having been with the Xbox brand for so long, I'm just going with my intuition. I would love for my intuition to be inaccurate!

 

Yes but if intuition has to be coupled with making egregious comparisons... I'd just sooner go with logic. lol

Comparing the 360 and its services and digital content to the original Xbox is like comparing a Gameboy to a PS VITA. "Well the Gameboy got a light attachment in its third year so I guess the VITA is on track for one of those..."

Also, on topic, if I had a quid/dollar for every time there's been a service alert for the X1 and not the 360, I could buy a couple of Arcade games. But it's never meant that the 360 had been prioritised over the X1...

... and the reverse is true here. IMO

 

You guys wouldn't be saying yeah good forget 360 its dead if you didn't upgrade and still had a XB360 so STFU not everyone can afford a XB1 we have responsibilities not rich parents.

But hearing people talk is like hearing people saying, "So when is Valve going to delete ' entire digital PC library!?"

There's a fundamental misunderstanding in the inherent worth of the software and content attached to people's Live accounts. It's not like the original Xbox where your collection, your library, was on your shelf and depreciating in value quickly. lol

It's not even just about the games people think of as 360 games. Half of the Arcade games appearing on the X1 are identical to those on the 360. Are they worth more? No, they're not. It's the same frickin' game. Heh ha. But the 360 games should be erased
from existence because there's a new platform, and people think things are the same as they were in the original Xbox days?

This sucks having 360 service down. I do not have cable tv. I use the 360 for all my tv & movies. It was working for about 1 hr, now down again. Going on 3 days

And this is why games consoles should just be about gaming. Not a media system to cover everything, because when its down you have nothing.

 

I don't see why media apps need you to be logged into Live. You have to enter your account details for the companies such as Amazon or Netflix, so surely that should be enough.

 

@Argontheos - understand what you are saying in your posts, but the Original Xbox did have a substantial amount of downloadable content that people paid for. This included Xbox LIVE Arcade games that were available to download using the Xbox LIVE Arcade
disk.

If your Original Xbox were to no longer work, all of your content would not be able to transfer over to a new Original Xbox as your hard drive is tied to the Original Xbox. All content that people purchased online through Xbox LIVE could not transfer it
over anywhere. I have probably over $500 worth of downloadable content on my Original Xbox.

The Xbox 360 has a better structure where most content is transferable. However, it remains to be seen what will be with Xbox 360's digital content. The fact that it's not backwards compatible with Xbox One definitely resonates the same feeling I had with
the Original Xbox.

I would love the Xbox 360 to go on and will continue to support the console until the very end
