There's still not one single good reason to force Kinect on gamers

Project Spark is a good reason for it. A working as-intended Kinect 2.0 is also a necessity for Microsoft since they've spent so much money on advertising, etc. I will admit it is getting better.

I would have rather paid 600 for the system if they would of just upgraded the GPU/CPU/Ram and smack Sony in the face with that.

Honestly at this point most of us are PC gamers too and we don't mind playing for the best. Hell I wish they'd slapped an Nvidia logo on it and popped in a discrete graphics solution. I know people are going to say if you want that just go with a PC, but
how cool would it have to been to laugh at Sony this time around.

Sony: Well well we're for independent developers.

Xbot: Our system runs 4k with 60fps

Sony: Um.. the DS4!!!

Xbot: Our controller battery life is 4x the ds4 btw we got 4k resolution with 60 fps

Sony: Oh yea we got ours for 400!!!! And you paid 600!!!

Xbot: Cool story bro 4k with 60fps

Sony: You were forced to BUY THE KINECT!!?!!?

Xbot: yea yea 4k 60fps

That's basically how every argument goes with Sony guys currently and I'm one to bash the xbox for its lack of internal hardware also. But paying more would simply mean more. I mean if you buy something that costs more YOU EXPECT it to perform better. It's
like buying a v6 vs a v8 -if you got the money you go with the v8 - most of us have already shown we got the money since we drop 500 on the console, 20 bucks for an adapter, 60 bucks for an extra controller, 60 bucks for a Gold Sub, and more money on games.

I still play both and with the games with gold, there's no reason not to keep playing both for a awhile. Power to the Gamers!

 

Please Develop More Games for Kinect on Xbox One

Kinect is good, the mistake was force everyone to buy and use it.

 

I don't get the hate for the Kinect, at least not with this generation.

You don't have to use it to play "wavy arms and legs" games. Use it if you like and don't if you don't, simple.

I doubt i'll be playing Rivals or games such as that, but i love controlling everything with my voice, so easy. And english isn't even my first language, still it works. Haven't had one problem yet.

But, haters will be haters no matter what. I just don't see the point in vasting the energy.

 

@Angryvato - To be fair, saying "use it if you like and don't if you don't" is not a great rebuttal, considering you have to pay for Kinect if you buy an Xbox One. For those who genuinely would never use it, they are paying for a piece of technology that's
only going to collect dust. Maybe they could sell it, but then who is going to buy it when every Xbox One comes with one anyway?

MS changed the Kinect requirement because consumers were concerned about being forced to have a camera looking into their living rooms at all times. Now they're not forced, as the Xbox One works fine with Kinect unplugged or covered up.

The voice stuff works great.

 

I think a Kinect-less version is coming amidst all this debate. I mean numerous articles including ones from Yahoo and Bing (sibling companies with MS) are already saying it's their Achilles hill.

I could list more articles but in all honesty this pretty much sums it up and doesn't bash the xbox it simply tells the truth.

We can say all day it's not going to happen, but if it's costing them potential sales it's going to get the axe.

This is going to be just like the previous Kinect unless Microsoft steps in and demands Developers to utilize this technology otherwise in their eyes it's a waste of development time that could be spent elsewhere especially when most gamers according to
the articles I mentioned above don't even use it to begin with.

Lets look at sony with the Vita Remote play - many devs put up a fight on this and even tried to get their games not to have this functionality because they would have to put additional time making sure it works as intended. Sony said no you're going to
develop for this. Until Microsoft takes a stance and demands developers to utilize this hardware it's going to be a waste and used primarily as voice commands which is more or less on par to Sony's solution - which uses a mic. A mic on your face will always
pick up better than a mic located 10ft from you, just common logic. You can already tell your playstation to switch apps and share things similar to Microsoft's; but for those not wanting to use their voice they offered buttons on the controller to do the
same thing. I would also dare say it picks up the recognition of said commands better but that's because again it's a mic on your face and not 10ft from you.

So by Christmas unless Microsoft changes some things you will probably see Kinect-less even disc drive-less x1's available for cheaper. Heck it might even be cheaper than the ps4 giving it an even stronger value. I mean we were all wrong about the price
drops and how quickly they came, so that's just a sign of things to come.

 

One question has to be, why isn't there a Kinect for PC? which would then allow the developers to focus the kinect for more than just Xbox ones.

 

I think that is also coming Enen. Even if there's a Kinect-less version of the X1 when developers see it as being used on PC they might start incorporating it more into games.

That would Microsoft in a healthy spot to promote this amazing technology. I never said it was bad, it's just not ideal with its current limitations but in time it will improve and is improving. Microsoft needs to find a way to make sure devs utilize it.

 

I don't know about everyone else, but I am not interested in playing Kinect games. The reason I keep my Kinect plugged-in is for navigating the UI, "Xbox, record that", BF4 voice commands and lean feature. I would pay the full
retail price of the Kinect just for those features alone.

 

Then there's no point to it. When they could have just put a mic on the controller and register voice commands and skip the whole advanced Kinect thing all together.

 

I love skype on X1 record that with PIP now twich and the camera. PLenty of point to it.
