There Will Likely Never be Another Xbox One Exclusive

So Microsoft continue their march to destroying the Xbox One with the annoucement that their console will likely never have another exclusive title. Sure the games are heading to another OS that they own but if you have even a half decent PC, you are going
to get to play all of Microsoft's games with the added bonus of not having to pay for Xbox Live Gold each year.

I hope they've got a better plan with Scorpio and aren't just going to put all their eggs into the VR basket. They tried that with the Kinect and we all know how that went down.

Crash Bandicoot would make an awesome Xbox One exclusive!

Crash Bandicoot is a PS mascot, it would NEVER be a Xbox One exclusive. I do wish another one comes out though

 

Internet browser.

There never has been nor will there likely be an internet browser on the Xbox 360 and any talk of one is purely speculative.

 

VR is going to be an accessory (i.e. Not required to purchase along with console/computer) for a long time...I predict it will remain niche for a long time after, if it ever makes it beyond a fad. MS makes more money off software than hardware...makes this
a smart business move.

 

not really that true, there exclusive to a degree as other consoles will not have them but it will be available in the windows store for pc owners so technically it is exclusive to the microsoft platform therefore you need to be running windows 10 on a pc
or own an xbox console. win win for all as i don't have to fawk out for an expensive pc upgrade and i prefer playing on console anyway, also more people in the pool of online gaming.

 

Isn't play anywhere cross platform supported too? Meaning bigger player pool?

 

i still don't understand why people get their underwear in a bunch over things like this, i was a PC gamer for a short time but always preferred console gaming and ended up coming back to it, this doesn't affect me in any way a long with many other gamers.

and from MS stand point, it's money on the ground, PC gamers out number console gamers many times over, they've tried and failed in the past but with Phil Spencer at the helm i bet they'll make it this time.

i believe this is the end for traditional consoles, i think Project Scorpio will be more like a Steam Box, and after that MS will just release a Xbox OS so people will build their own consoles if they want, or just buy a MS branded one.

 

It's still a Microsoft exclusive and as long as they make consoles I'll likely own one I like playing on a tv and consoles are easier than PC

 

There will be a lot of console exclusives.

The only thing that isn't right is PC users won't have to pay for Live while console gamers will. That will likely sway more people to PC. MS doesn't care either way as long as they're selling software.

@Burnin TODI I thyink Microsoft want to hitch their wagon to VR just like Sony. I wouldn't be surprised to see a Scorpio bundle that includes the Oculus Rift, which alrady bundles a Xbox One control with the headset.

@Farscape247 Its very true. If the game is on more than one system then it isn't an Xbox One exclusive. Sure it's a Microsoft exclusive but surely all that does it hurt the Xbox One.

@Unreal Warfare I believe so but I've not seen that confirmed anywhere. Which brings up the Gold fee again. You are going to find yourself playing against people who don't have to pay to play online on the exact same service.

@Zero Divided I'm interested in it as a form of discussion. Microsoft to seem to actively want to put people off the Xbox One. They annouce the S then render it obsolete by saying the Scorpio is coming in just 18 months.

@pkvas yes it is Microsoft exclusive but not One exclusive. They've removed incentive for some to buy a One. Why buy the console if you have a system that can run all the exclusive games for it already.

@brandiesel1 what exclusives will there be? Microsoft are bringing all their exclusives to the PC, so what incentive do third parties have to make a game exclusive beyond a timed deal like Rise of the Tomb Raider. If Microdoft don't have confidence in the
selling power of their console for games, why on Earth should third parties?

I agree with you about the Gold fee. Why should some get to game on the service for free when others have to pay. I forsee forums exploding with 'why do I have to pay' posts.

@Azrael008uk I was born with one kidney which makes it more difficult for my body to process salty food.

 

They might have a bundle with vr included, but that does not mean you HAVE TO buy vr. In my opinion, it will be a fad for a long time....even so, I think MS are going about it the right way. Wait until you have a powerful enough piece of hardware that can
actually handle vr first, don't jump the gun and require add on processors etc. in an external box. And to all the other stuff, not everyone wants to play off a PC. MS is giving OPTIONS on the hardware YOU want to use....They make their money off SOFTWARE
and SERVICES. I could care less if some dude is not paying for gold and I pay 30-38$ a year...I get many free games for that fee (way more than I pay). MS will let the market forces decide what works. If everyone drops their gold then maybe they will change
the amount or drop it all together (or add more incentives).

 

Oh, so this is only referring to the play anywhere titles on W10? I'll just continue on with my day then.

 

@Burning TODI But if people drop the Gold fee then they lose a massive amount of functionality from their games. Even if the games don't use Microsoft servers, you still can't play without a payment to Microsoft.

While I have no doubt that people would like to make a protest, they aren't willing to lose the ability to play online.

@DigitalAssassin You genuinely don't find anything interesting in the discussion? You don't see why this might hurt the Xbox console eco-system.

I confess I'm surpised by how apathetic so many people are to this. They claim to love the console but don't care if Microsoft themselves are actively working to hurt it.

 

The more we see of Microsoft's work, the more we can begin something that no else can do!
