    Junk - really. First gaming console bought since the Wii debuted in late 2008. It's been sitting on the fireplace mantel since Santa Claus left it, and since we have the Holiday weekend with no childrens sporting events or tournaments, today was to be
    the day we played it.

    Nope. Not today. Same crap that y'all are experiencing. Five hundred plus dollars and it doesn't work. So typical. Microsoft moving product before it's ready to go, and then not being able to update it when you finally do hook it up.

    I'm not impressed. Total crap, and I should have known better. . . . .

    I just setup my brand new xbox one and I'm having the same issues "There was a problem with the update" :(

    Maybe it has something to do with this ?

    It says that Xbox live core services are down.

    Seriously...I bought this thing hours ago and it won't work until it can update on Live. Typical Microsoft. A $500 paperweight. I should have known better. Should have bought the PS4.

    I talked to Xbox support a little bit ago, They are aware of this wide spread issue and said they are hopping to get it fixed in the next 24 to 48 hours. I'm in the same boat as you guys I just bought mine today and can't play! "There was a problem with the update" :(

    hi guys just turned my xbox one on at 8.30am uk time finally done the first update seems working on my now hope its fixed for all you guys iv completed my set up this morning no problems

    This is happening to me. Used the Xbox support Chat help and they never indicated it might be an issue on their part. Target was nice enough to exchange the unit in the red card 120 day exchange deal, but the new unit I got in exchange is having the same
    issue. I sort of suspected Charter and them not liking me streaming VUDU on my XBOX ONE but now I see it is a common deal. I've got 5+ hours into trouble shooting and the exchange. Not happy with this one bit.

    update the console offline    , if retrying the update does not work. Post back and let me know how it goes!
