    Hello,

    I just bought an Xbox One today. Upon setting it up, everything was fine, found my network connection, says it was all good. But when I try to do the Day One update, it tells me "There was a problem with the update - You need this update to use your console,
    but something went wrong. For help, visit xbox.com/xboxone/update/help.

    I went there, tried all of the troubleshooting, power cycled multiple times, same issue. The last option was an offline diagnostic test, but I don't have a flash drive on me that I can use. Am I really going to be forced to go back and buy a flash drive
    just to figure out something is wrong?

    I start up the game and as soon as the first image comes up the black update screen comes up with "There was a problem with the update" followed by try again, check network and cancel. As well as pointing me to Xbox One System Updates | Offline System Updates
    I've followed every step but nothing works. I would love to play the game I spent money on, thanks again for your time.

    P.S. If it helps I am in the early update program.

    A surge protector can be bought in any electrical store and even many supermarkets such as Asda, Walmart etc. See the link for an example:

    Also the problem will not be related to 'purchase and content usage'. If you lose power to your xbox whilst doing the update this could corrupt the update firmware and in some cases possibly even damage the hard drive. The diagnostic should help you find
    the root of the problem.

    Let me know what you find out, I just purchased a XBOX ONE today also and experiencing the same issue. I phone customer service and after 30 min on the phone they told me others are having this same issue and there is a problem today with updates that they
    are working on. I'm not sure this is the case or he didn't know how to help me. Any way's, we will need to wait to update we can get our's updated. Let me know what you find out.

    As much as it sucks for us, I'm glad to know I'm not the only one. I'm probably just going to wait it out as I don't have the patience to sit on the phone for who knows how long.

    went there tried everything it said and nothing worked.i bought this machine brand new today and its faulty...its going straight back to the shop and im getting my money back and buying a ps4

    we have the same issue. we bought one today, had that problem, exchanged it, and the one we have now is still doing the same thing. it has to be on their end. we're going to wait it out until tomorrow and see if they fix it overnight.

    No luck right now. Will try again tomorrow and if no luck then, I'll call customer service and run em through the gauntlet.

    I had the same problem today called tech support they said it's their issue should be fixed in four hours or so on into tomorrow

    Just tried it again and now luck..... very disappointing for a new XBOX and my kids waiting to use it... Let us know if anyone hear's when the fix has been resolved. ...waiting...

    Can confirm, exchanging doesn't fix anything. Before seeing these posts I thought it might be an internet strength problem, so I wired my fios directly to the modem without any splitters in between, then to the xbox one, didn't work either.
