    There was a problem updating your controller


    I received my headset adapter tonight and was excited to finally use my Astro A40s to hear in game surround sound and chat... like I used to on the 360. So, I follow all the instructions in the paperwork and I get:

    There was a problem updating your controller

    I searched online, tried the power cycling method... tried different controllers, tried different headsets, tried with and without batteries installed. I made sure all the wires were plugged in. Finally I gave up and called MS. I chatted with them for over
    an hour and they also could not get it to work.

    Anyone else had this trouble? The update for sensitivity applied fine. I plugged the controller in and downloaded that update without issue. But if I plug the headset adapter in and plug a wire (from any headset) into the adapter (apparently turning it on)
    I am prompted to update my controller again (supposedly for the headset adapter) and it never works. I always get this message.

    Very frustrated!

    Is the error message I get. I recently received the adapter from Turtle Beach for my XP Seven Headset. I have plugged everything into the appropriate ports and taken out the batteries before starting the update like the instructions suggest. Why is this
    still not working? I want to use the headset I payed a lot of money for.

    i got a new stereo headset and when i try to update it says THERE WAS A PROBLEM UPDATING YOUR CONTROLLER

    There was a problem updating your controller

    you'll need to return it and get a new one, seems like there is a dodgy batch.

    I'll take that advice and trade it in for another adapter to see if that fixes the issue. If it does, this information may be useful to MS if they are attempting to track a bad batch:

    Went through heck trying to get one and it doesn't work. I'm done MS. I'm tired of this crappy system, poor coding, and even worse hardware.

    I purchased the original Xbox the day it came out, I was one of the first on Xbox Live and I even got a 360 on release day. After going through multiple 360's (due to poor design) I snatched up a new XB1.

    After all these years, I'm going to Best Buy tomorrow for a PS4. I will never buy another Xbox product again.

    There something wrong with my xbox one.

    Try to update your controllers via plugin them in with the usb cable to your xbox and than go to the update menu and look for controler update click it to check (even if there is no update this fixes sync problems with your controller)
