There is static coming out of the Xbox Series controllers' headphone port

Geri, I'm not sure if you still are receiving this thread but I did get my replacement Xbox controller today and I hooked it up to my series X and everything worked fine except that there is no sound coming through my wired headphones. These are Arctis Prime Steel Series wired headphones that worked fine with all my other controllers and just recently with my Xbox series X controller but when I connected to the Elite control they sent me it does there's no sound coming through. I cleaned the port a harder rebooted my Xbox Series X I updated the firmware and still no results.

Do you have any suggestions?

Yes, both controllers fully updated.

Mic is at2020usb+, headphones are the apple earbuds, phone is the Nexus 5.

I'm using the audio out port on the mic and connecting that to the mic port of the splitter, and the headphones to the headphones port of the splitter, and the combo port to the controllers.

Hello! May I ask what type of adapter your headphones have? Xbox One controllers use a 3.5 millimeter port, which is what your average type of headphones/earbuds would use. This means that no specific adapter is needed to connect your headphones to your
headset.

For some reference too: The Xbox controller headset port comes with
a 3.5 millimeter port to the left, which if your headset does come with the 3.5 millimeter jack (All headsets should come with one unless they specifically state they use a USB port), it would be compatible with the controller. The middle port of the controller
is for extensions you can have for the controller such as a turtle beach microphone control to other items that are compatible.

I actually did resolve this issue myself. My controller had static buildup in the 3.5mm port and the issue was fixed by simply plugging in headphones to the port. I heard the electric discharge when I plugged it in which is how I know there was a static buildup.

I'm not sure if this is a problem with my controller in particular in some way and I need to get a replacement. I'm waiting a bit longer to see if it happens again before requesting a replacement.

I would recommend trying a regular pair of headphones on the controllers (Both) and check to see if the headphones work. If they do then the controller is just not compatible with the headset which is a known issue. If the headphones do not work with the
controllers, then it may be that the controllers port is not working anymore.

What I mean by headphones is a pair that normally come with your phone (Not apple headphones). Also, try to change the batteries in the controller as well as this may be an issue too.
