The Xbox Wireless Headset when used as a mixer for two PCs lowers the volume of the PC...

The Xbox Wireless Headset, when used as a mixer for two devices, one being a PC through the Xbox Wireless Adapter, and the second a PC through Bluetooth using the hands-free mono audio devices (IN and OUT, both), happens to produce this strange behavior:

    - Connect the Xbox Wireless Headset to the first PC using a Xbox Wireless Adapter, the stereo audio works fine.
    - Then connect to the second PC using Bluetooth, the mixer does it job but the audio from the first PC (connected with the Xbox Wireless Adapter) lowers to what I could say by ear it's about 60%.

The audio volume of the first PC can't be turned up by any apparent means as long as the speaker device on the second PC (the one connected with Bluetooth) is used by any app, meaning that closing all active audio stream on the second PC will suddenly up the volume of the second PC back to 100%.

I believe this happens at firmware level because the volume is not changed on the first PC, not the device volume, neither the mixer for individual apps. This definitively is happening inside the headset's firmware.

I don't want this behavior, as an example use case to help you picture how annoying this can be:

    - If I run an app that closes and opens audio streams periodically on the second PC, while trying to listen something on the first PC, the volume of the latter one will jump from 60% to 100% constantly.

    :)

The Xbox Wireless Headset when used as a mixer for two PCs lowers the volume of the PC connected through the Xbox Wireless Adapter

Nothing from this reply was helpful. But since I was told this is "expected" behavior because this headset isn't designed for this use case... I've decided to elaborate my way to deal with it.

If anyone reads this looking for a solution, this is my workaround as of today:

    1) On the second PC, the one connected with Bluetooth:
    - Open any audio stream (an audio file or whatever) and keep it playing on loop but muted, this will prevent the sudden audio volume going up and down.

    - Lower system audio to about 40%, this will help normalize the volume, but feel free to play with it to whatever is comfortable with you.

    2) On the first PC, the one connected with an Xbox Wireless Adapter:

    - Install Letasoft's Sound Booster (just google it).

    - After launching that, set it to APO mode > right click on the new tray icon > Boost Mode > APO effect.

    - Set the booster volume to around 500%, same thing just feel free to play with it to what you feel is right for you.

    3) Extra optional step ONLY If you don't use spatial sound.

    - Disable any spatial sound like the one provided with Dolby Access, sadly this won't be compatible for this.

    - Set Letasoft's Sound Booster to inject mode > right click on the round tray icon > Boost Mode > Injection.

    - Injection mode is more performant but it isn't compatible with any spatial engine.

That way you won't become crazy because of audio popping from 60% to 100% all the time.

-> To any support officer actually reading this:

I'd like to have direct contact to the team responsible of this product, to at least see if they're working on this obvious issue before I start reversing its hardware and writing my own firmware for it, it would be a waste of time to work on this to just see a firmware update days after...

    Headset chat mixer

The headset chat mixer has nothing to do with the Mixer streaming platform. It is a standalone app which is used to higher or lower the volume of your headset, and also to higher or lower the microphone and voice of your friends.

Can you use the Xbox one wireless headset chat mixer on PC if you have the usb wireless adapter?

Yes, you can use the Xbox One wireless headset chat mixer on PC if you have the USB wireless adapter.

To do this, you will need to follow these steps:

    1. Connect the USB wireless adapter to your PC.
    2. Turn on your Xbox One wireless headset and hold down the power button on the headset until it starts flashing. This puts the headset in pairing mode.
    3. Press the pairing button on the USB wireless adapter until the LED starts flashing.
    4. Once the LED on the USB wireless adapter stops flashing and stays lit, the headset is paired with your PC.
    5. Open the Xbox Accessories app on your PC, and click on the "Xbox One Wireless Controller" device.
    6. From there, you can adjust the chat mixer settings to your liking.
Once you have completed these steps, you should be able to use the chat mixer on your Xbox One wireless headset with your PC.

xbox wireless headset issues on pc

Oh no, I mean. Bluetooth 4.2, Bluetooth 5.0 etc.
Unfortunately Wireless Headset can be a bit tricky or not work as intended on PCs with a lower Bluetooth version.

I was checking a similar thread, it seems this issue is solved using the Xbox Wireless adapter or connecting directly the headset via USB, on PC the wireless headset have some issues when you want to use sound and microphone at the same time
