I mean the xbox series x games can't run games on the external hard drive anymore.The xbox series x games,Cyberpunk 2077 fortnite halo infinite assassin's creed valhalla are this xbox series x games?I heard that we can save xbox series x games but can't
run it on external hard drive but you still can run xbox one/360and orginal xbox games.If you want to play series x games,You will need to move series x games that is on the external hard drive than move to the internal ssd or the seagate storage expansion
card.I hope that seagate expansion card will be cheap not that expensive like around $150.I think it good,to play games on sdd.But if you not have that much storage,We need to move the games many times.It little bit busy.But i think it worth it,We just need
to wait for xbox series x move the games,Maybe it take like a few minute.And yeah we will have ssd gaming experience.

If your game is now a Series X optimised title, it can no longer be played off an external hard drive. It must be moved to either the internal storage or an optional expansion card.

External USB hard drives are too slow to play Series X optimised games. None Series X games will still run from your external drive. The internal storage in the Series X is a fast NVME SSD. These drives are several times faster than mechanical hard drives.

I'm afraid it won't ever be 'configurable'. The real reason why your games can't be downloaded to the external drive is because you can't actually run Series X|S games from an external drive.

External hard drives are far too slow to run Series X|S games. They need to be run either from the internal drive - which is a fast NVME SSD - or the optional memory expansion cards for the Series X|S consoles. Not even SATA based external SSD's are considered fast enough for X|S games.

You can move Series X|S games for archive purposes to copy back to these faster storage locations to play, but you can't run Series X|S games from external storage.

Games that have not been optimised for Series X|S have no such limitations.

Not sure why the 'Independent Advisor' doesn't know this well known fact.

Your drive will work the same on Series X as it does on Xbox One and you won't need to format it.

However, Series X games or Xbox One games with Series X enhancements will not run from that drive and will either need to be installed internally or to an external SSD designed for Series X/S.

Your hard drive will be too slow for Series X games. They can be stored there, but not run from there.

It's only on the Series S/X that they can't be played on a regular hard drive. The hard drive is too slow to run the games properly. The One is fully capable of running all games from the internal or any external hard drive. The One wouldn't have been playing optimized games at the full S/X optimization due to hardware limitations.
