I don't play my Xbox one x of then enough for it to burn out in 7 months.... or so I thought. After experiencing major frame drops I unplugged the console only to see the white top prong with black marks & the 2 lower metal prongs with visible distortion.
I'm buying a new cable but I'm just shocked how easily it burns out.

    :)

    Hi

Thanks for sharing your experience, to me it sounds like a possible faulty socket though and not the xbox or the power lead as i wouldnt have expected the power cord to be damaged in that way by the xbox itself, sounds like a possible wiring issue in the
house? It may be best to get it checked out for safety reasons.....

    Cheers
    I'll second what Tarnend states.

Having had issues with a kitchen appliance that suffered the same thing, I got my sockets checked out by an electrician. It turned out that the polarity in some of the sockets were reversed. So before you plug that new cable in, get your sockets tested.

Which could also be AlbertoAladeen's issue if it keeps popping fuses.

I have x from the begining, 1.6 years now. It is always on, not just for gaming, but for movies, youtube music and internet. 12 hours a day. And it works like clock.

Sorry for hearing this. Is your x free for 'breathing', no other machines around? It must have been some power surge in your case. It is a quiet and great peace of hardware. I have Ps4 pro also. It is like plane taking off compared to x.

I've seriously never heard of this happening before. It must have been a defective cord, if it happens again I would be curious if the console is causing it. Keep an eye on things and if it happens again reach out to MS Tech Support.
