The Xbox One Slim

Hello "Galactic Geek"

Considering the fact that I'm currently on my 8th Xbox 360 console (I'm using the Falcon Chip Set now & my Jasper Chip Set is in storage), I have noticed that as the Xbox 360 console evolved; they became more effecient and better designed.

I'm hoping that the Xbox One Slim will continue the tradition of more effecient and better designed

I think they should redesign the X1 and make it bigger (More airflow.) and construct it out of 1/4 diamond plate (Durability.). The controller should be made of wax (Form fitting so your hand could meld to it.), with a built in laser pointer (In case I ever
buy a basket of kittens.).

I, for one, would be extremely upset if they released a "Slim Edition" so soon. I mean I bought my One thinking it was going to be that way for a long time. It is a "slap in the face" to all early adopters. /sarcasm off.

The only thing I would want from the slim is that it takes up less space on my unit, that's about all, haha.

 

It took Microsoft 5 years to release Xbox 360 Slim, so I'm not worried, and even if they did release a slimmer version of Xbox One sooner, I don't think I'd care.

P.S. OP, it's Xbox One, not Xbox 1...

I can't really see what would make me buy a "Slim". With the 360, the difference in noise between the OG version and the Slim was massive. The One is already super quiet. I don't really see how making it smaller would make it any quieter and I wouldn't buy
one just because it was smaller. I suppose one thing they could do is make a higher quality PSU that's fanless. Some people (including me) have had issues with noisy/ticking PSUs and the PSU fan runs 24/7 if you use the "instant on" mode, so it would be nice
if there was a fanless one. My PC PSU isn't fanless, but the fan doesn't kick in until the load hits 50%, which is 380 Watts - considerably more than the Xbox One consumes - so it could be done, particularly as an Xbox One Slim would probably mean a die shrink
and lower power consumption.

I think the controller layout/sticks/buttons are fine (great in fact), but the screwless design means that all of my controllers (I have 3) creak slightly and don't feel quite as solid as the 360 controllers. I'd like to see them improve that, but it's a
minor complaint.

 

There is no need for Microsoft to change the layout of there controller but to improve on it and add to it, the Xbox 1 controller does feel less solid than the 360 controller.

Exactly the same here!! lol.

Though in fairness, I would be a little gutted if they released a slim anywhere before 2016 too. That's too soon imo. How soon did the 360 slim come out after the arcade 360? (just curious for time span)

 

Slim for 360 didn't come out til 2010. Joined Xbox mid/late 2010 so have the glossy 250gb black slim console (Still functioning well). May have to wait 5 years or around that for a slim version unless M wants to make a slim version sooner. The way it's made
now allows for very good ventilation which helps prolong the hardware's life. But the console isn't that heavy. It's a little bit bigger than the 360 slim but it weighs the same maybe even weighs less!, than my 360 slim.

Well if its 5 years this time round I would be more inclined to pick it up. I have no problem with the console, the only let down for me is the space it takes up but that's more my own fault for setting up in a place that lacks the space.

 

I would definitely pick up the slimmer version. I love the Xbox One! The only problem I have with this console is it feels like it's not complete yet. It was rushed into the market trying to beat out it's competitors and there are features that the console
should of had at launch. Important key features are still missing but Microsoft is doing their best trying to get it up to speed with the monthly updates. I really hope the Xbox One gets to where it needs to be in terms of next-gen before the holiday season.

 

That's the problem about the Xbox1, it lacks any good hardware, the software will gradually be updated and improved over time, but will the hardware be improved with the Xbox1, most unlikely, if only the Xbox1 wasn't rushed into the market, now Microsoft
has to clean up their mess.
