    The Xbox One S Misdirection

So, ever since the early news began circulating about Xbox One S, we've been hearing how it is 40 percent smaller and has more Raw Power than the current Xbox One. The Gears of War developer claimed that the Xbox One S can get better frame rate performances
in-game, compared to the Xbox One Fat(?). Microsoft then stepped in and said, "no, the extra resources will only be locked down for HDR, otherwise there will be no differences, when versus the original Xbox One." Microsoft, yet again, is reserving system resources
for some stupid gimmicky feature that only a small percentage of the population will enjoy. First, it was Kinect, now it's HDR. Many people still own 720P TV's, many still even own CRT TV's. A very small percentage of the gaming population actually has a 4K
UHD TV, and an even smaller fraction of that audience has one that supports HDR, while an even smaller fraction of that audience happens to have one that supports HDR10, which is the only one that the Xbox One supports...as opposed to Dolby Vision. So, the
Xbox One has more Raw Power, and knowing full well that the Xbox struggles to hit 1080p in many games, and also struggles in frame rates in the 900p games it does support, they lock down any additional resources for a very small population of gamers. Instead
of doing the logical thing and helping the console's performance. It was not aware of this when first pre-ordering the Xbox One S and selling my old Xbox...otherwise, I'd have just kept the old one. Every website was hyping, "Xbox One S, 40 percent smaller,
and has more Raw Processing Power."

It is with a heavy heart that I will, unfortunately, likely be selling my unopened, unboxed console. What I have yet to determine, however, is if I will just get a cheaper old one back, or if I will just jump to the better looking console to begin with,
the PS4, since I had a PS3 in the past and still have friends that actively play there. I've had enough of Microsoft's games. Like the Kinect, Microsoft just can't seem to understand that gamers just want fidelity and performance...no gimmicky features. Sony
has always made it clear that their console was built for the gamers and that's what their system does.

    :)

Yes, that is one of the "numerous threads discussing this problem with no solutions, but lots of misdirection" and why I cincluded my region and steps so far.

This is not a solution, just more misdirection.

    Please supply resolution.

The service rep clearly asked them to post here so that's probably their misdirection.

Nothing to see here, just another suicide thread...I give it a 6/10 because no mention of "years of loyalty". I want to know where all this hidden "raw power" being held back for gimmicks is? Got a credible link to specifics? The only difference between
the two versions of consoles is the hdr (on the gaming side, the 4k video was the most prominent advertised change between the two, other than the size of course). They have been very clear (in my opinion) on what the hdr will/won't do for gaming on the S
version. Saying that it will be an ever so slightly change in some of the contrast and color clarity. Enjoy your PS4.

Yeah, "Just another suicide thread..." Try reserving your products under false pretenses, only to hear(days from receiving your product), "Just Kidding! We know one of our first party developers has proven that it increases frame rate performance...but that's
not what we want to use it for. We want HDR!!! Which, we are aware, probably only 10 percent of the entire gaming community actually has a TV that supports this feature!"

Got any specifics, because those articles say " a small amount of power" and that the additional power "won't be significant". If it only locks down a couple of frames above the One, then is it really that important? I have read those articles, and nothing
in them tells me that the S version is some major step up in gaming power. In fact, most people have surmised from the begining that the S version is just a cosmetic change with UHD blue ray player and 4k video streaming capable (which is also a lie by the
way, I still can't get true uncompressed, full 1080p video/audio experience from Netflix, so you know their 4k streaming is going to be more compressed video/audio). But I want you to tell me specifically how much super power is being held back? Because you
seem to think that " the additional power won't be significant" they stated, means that the S would be able to play games at 4k 60fps, but somehow they are holding back for some gimmick.

Wait, you've sold your original Xbox and now with the promise of a newer, sleeker model (which brings the not inconsiderable benefit of additional storage over the 500GB model), you're thinking of selling the Xbox One S too? And then buying ANOTHER console
(PS4) which you claim is the "better looking" one?

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but of all the recent comparison videos I've seen of the S, it *still* looks better (and a tad smaller) than the PS4 eyesore, IMO. So what if Microsoft is touting the S for its HDR benefits, at least you don't have to
pay hand over fist for an additional VR headset like Sony is offering (and yet to prove itself in the longevity stakes). Like you, I've come from a 'multi-platform' background - and my PS3 is still earning its keep as a Blu-ray player - but I've been burned
by Sony before. Again, it's only my opinion, but PlayStation Home was a killer app back in the day, and I supported this service for YEARS... until Sony pulled the plug in March 2015, thereby nullifying EVERY purchase I'd ever made. No refunds, no excuses,
    no remorse.

Compare and contrast to Xbox Live, and EVERY purchase I've made over the past eight years has been carried forward, plus we *also* get back compatibility with a growing list of last-gen games (RDR is smashing it atm and apparently the best console version
available). When I look to the future, all I can see is solid RELEASE DATES for the Xbox games that matter; those exclusive to the platform that supports *my* gameplaying habits... I'm not looking for inflated, pie-in-the-(No Man's)-sky promises, nor antiquated
    experiences (like The Last Guardian).

I've bought the Xbox One S too, but I'm still using the original (Sunset Overdrive) vanilla model. Plus I bought the Halo 5 1TB console last year (as back-up, but it's being regifted to my nephew for Christmas). Do I look worried? Am I hyperventilating because
my current TV doesn't support 4K nor HDR? Nope.

I'm just enjoying the status quo (and possibly the *best* year of my gaming life).
