The Xbox One S 4K Blu-Ray Player Is A Disaster...Good Job!!

uhd bluray and bluray disc, uhd bluray is bleached!! bluray noise levels are consistently elevated!!

I thought I had cataracts or color blindness....This console can really play uhd bluray or bluray?

Xbox One S 4K upscaling for DVDs and standard Blu-rays

I would like to purchase a 4K Blu-ray Player for my new 4K TV, and the Xbox One S seems like a good choice since it can be used for gaming and other entertainment as well. However, I would also like to play non-4K discs (480p, 720p, 1080p) on the Xbox One
S using a 4K TV.

So, my question is:

Does the Blu-ray App on Xbox One S upscale SD (480p DVDs) and HD (720p & 1080p standard Blu-rays) discs to 4K?

 

Sony TV HDR mode looks faded.

Just a heads up, the UHD player has issues tracking HDR. The One X UHD player has increased brightness levels. There's a fix they're working on. Hang in there, it's almost ready.

It doesn't affect games, it's just UHD video.

There are a number of AV issues with the Xbox One S/X and UHD Blu-ray playback, your guess is as good as mine if they will be fixed.

Certain UHD titles are broken and will not play.

Dolby Atmos is unreliable.

4K AV receiver HDMI handshaking issues.

Image quality issues, the wrong color matrix being used in Blu-ray playback (see review comparison

in link).

They could have broken something on the One S in their rush to fix the broken Blu-ray HDR on the One X with the 10.0.16299.4037 that includes said HDR fix.

Is this same issue related to gameplay too? I've noticed a lot of distortion in Elite Dangerous, especially when you start at the main menu screen.

 

No, I haven't found a similar problem with the 4K game, after all, the bluray and the game mode isn't the same, it's mainly h264 and h265 decoding

In addition, the Xbox one S/X bluray app may also contain many errors...

 

Vincet Teoh the guy behind HDTVtest just did his and although the HDR is fixed the wrong color decoding is still present on the X same as the S.
