The Xbox One Has Been A Disappointment So Far

I am totally happy with my xbone, it does everything I want it do hence why I brought it, if you don't like it sell it

 

Ballistic, you aren't going to get the same DL speed on each download when you download 3 at once versus one at a time. You won't get 3 10 minute items downloaded in 10 minutes just because you have all 3 going at once.

You might save a handful of minutes versus queuing them up, but that'll typically be it. On top of that, as has been pointed out, Xbox One allows you to prioritize downloads, pause and resume downloads, and a host of other features that in all honesty make
it superior to the competition in terms of download management. This is a simply ridiculous area to be 'disappointed' in the Xbox One.

 

A properly functioning Xbox One is really quiet. Half as loud as a PS4 under load (check Eurogamer's noise tests).

As for the downloading, I prefer the way the Xbox One does it. If I queue things up, I can choose which to download first and when that's done, I can play that game while the other stuff is still downloading.

There's a tile on the main Home screen (to the right of the centre section) that shows you the Games With Gold games and deals.

The Settings layout seems perfectly logical to me. The only thing I'd like to see is if you go into My Games & Apps, where it shows how much storage you've used up, there should be a shortcut to "Manage storage" there.

Some of your other stuff seems incredibly nit-picky though. How many times do you change the name of your Xbox One? Just give it a name when you get it, restart it so it takes effect - job done.

Sounds like a specific console issues. You should get it checked out.

It seems the roles have been reversed, the PS3 was very slow downloading + installing with the 360 being quicker.

Now the opposite.

Also, everytime you download something, the Xbox One "screen flashes" for a second or two, doesnt seem seamless to me...
I've never noticed this.

Also the dashboard with the tiles is a mess, nothings fluid. To me, the X1 dashboard is better than the mile long scroll line on the PS4.

The store is very badly designed, it doesn't even have a section for "games with gold" and everything is just grouped together...

The settings menu is very poor to and having to restart the Xbox to change the console name is just silly.

The whole friends menu is also clunky and doesn't take advantage of a large TV, its just in face and a pain to navigate...

All in all, Microsoft have gone backwards with this machine, its slow, clunky, the controller feels very cheap, especially around the Xbox logo and so it wasn't a very good first experience.

Number 1. thing is to address the very slow downloads and install times, and the fact it cant do multiple downloads...

Overall, I'm happier with my X1 than my PS4, which is why my PS4 is back in the box. You seem to just have a personal prefence, but there are many of us that actually like and love the X1. This is coming from a long time PS user, that only owned
an original Xbox those many years ago.

Yes it may be true that the PS4 is faster and more powerful than the Xbox one. If you just give the One a chance you would realize that speed, power and graphics aren't everything. Kinect for instance, what a revolutionary piece of gear! PS has nothing that
can shake a stick at the Kinect. I don't worry about that Xbox is being outsold 2 - 1 right now because Xbox is going to sell a bunch more consoles once 360 owners finally decide to make the jump to the next gen. As an Xbox guy, keep your faith, Xbox isn't
finished yet!

 

Screeching? Should get that looked at, mine is so quiet that if I've switched the TV over, I'll forget it's on. I have to actually hold my head over it just to hear a very faint whiring sort of sound.

There is a games for Gold section.

How many times are you changing the name of your console so that THAT would be a complaint?

I think neither console has a 'cheap' gamepad, but the Xbox One still wins for me a thousand times over.

 

Ok, I got a new machine.

The Buzzing is now gone, which is great.



Its counter-intuitive to have to disconnect from Live just to get faster installs :/



@Lofty Who: downloading fifa demo on Xbox One took 12 minutes, on other machines it took just 4 minutes.



Again, didnt have this slow issue with 360. The One is doing something slower, either server speeds cannot keep up with my internet or its installing very slow.

The PS4 does download and install simultaneously. I've done it. No stupid queuing system from the dark ages.



PS4 does indeed download updates and install/download the game at the same time. So your point is invalid. I have tested side by side. the PS4 wins by a big margin.



My Xbox 360 booted up within 5 secounds. Xbox One takes 30 seconds or more...

do you download 1 game at a time at 1 Mb/s or download 3 games at the same time at 1 Mb/s?



Which is faster? I'll let you figure that out.



So my complaints still stand:



Slow Download Speeds.

Slow install speeds.

Slow boot up time.

Cannot download more than one thing, which is silly and time wasting - my biggest issue with this.

Cannot permanently remove a game from the "my apps and games" section, its always listed in the grey section even after uninstalling!



So all in all, I'm disappointed in how slow it is.



*** Like I said before, I'm keeping all 3 of my next-game consoles until the very end and I understand improvements will be made all the time and I am in no way shape or form giving up the Xbox One, it's just, I expected

I'm on ADSL so my speeds max out, going back to fiber in 2 weeks and I'll defintely be checking how the dl/ul preforms on XBL.

I'm not a massive fan of the tiled UI either, although I use Kinect commands to navigate (or PIN most used stuff) so I'm not really that annoyed with UI.

Queued downloads, with early start for games, are fine for me, updates are even downloaded in the background. Sure 'simultaneous' downloads would be nice but really not that important for me anyway.

Also, 3 simultaneous downloads are not 3x faster than 3 single downloads... the 10min vs 30min statement makes no sense, you have a set connection bandwidth... 3 simultaneous downloads would take exactly the same amount of time as 3 queued downloads. If
a server caps download speed then that would make sense, but to my knowledge XBL doesn't cap each download.

 

I pin things to the dash for the look, but I always launch via Kinect.

It makes total sense.

XBL will not max out my connection on a single download.

Therefore downloading 3 simultaneously will do/come close, therefore its faster than just downloading 1 thing at a time..

Why is that so hard of a concept to grasp when I have stated several times XBL is slow....
