The Xbox One fails at multitasking.

No really, it does. I'm regretting having ever gotten one, my friends all already have PS4, but on top of that this console cannot do the one thing it promises which is to be an all in one entertainment center. The new user interface has managed to be even
slower and stickier than the last awful windows 8 one, opening up messages or trying to start a party takes absolute eons of time, it's sticky and generally unresponsive and it seems like the console cannot handle doing more than one thing at a time, what's
the point of multitasking if I can't use it?

It's disappointing to see how far we've regressed from the 360 in terms of user interface, is it because Windows generally isn't a good OS? Is it too RAM intensive?

I have faith that this feature will work as advertised. All of the videos showing how smoothly the system works and switches activities is really getting me hyped up. I hope once I unbox it and hook the ol' XOne up, it'll work as good.

In all seriousness though, it would be cool to take a shot in peggle and let the shot play out before coming back to what has happened after the multiplayer match.

 

how fast is your internet speed? mine multitasks perfectly fine, the new os is 50% faster than the previous os.

 

My internet speed is perfectly fine, I'll post a diagnostics test results here in a bit, the new OS just feels super sticky and slow for me, accessing that side bar is horrifyingly laggy and slow and often I give up halfway trying to check my messages.

I agree this new OS is faster than the old one, but anything was faster than that doggie barf bag.

 

I haven't had a problem with the xbox one UI, especially the new one, even in beta. The PS4 however is really laggy when playing a MP game.

 

I haven't had any issues with my console. It works very well and the interface is snappy too. Sorry you seem to have so many issues tbown2.

You may need to reconsider the actual cause.

 

The O.S. just gets better and better...for me at least.

I'm in the preview and this build is even faster than the last...

The X Box One in Instant on is ready to go in mere seconds; hit power button on X Box, switch T.V. to correct input, and a couple seconds later...boom! I'm ready to play; used to take maybe 20 seconds before the update and now maybe 5?

The X1 in energy saver would take about a minute or so before, and now is ready before getting back from the kitchen with my tea.

Girlfriends X Box in instant on is the same way...5 seconds at the most.

No noticeable sidebar lag on either of the three consoles, though voice commands with Kinect seem to be faster.

Internet speed at my house: 45Mbs/20Mbs/40ms.

I.S. speed at her house:12Mbs/1.99Mbs/20ms.

When she had the 1.5Mbs D.S.L. package from AT&T there were some lag issues, though no more.

I'm talking about the side bar, when playing world of tanks I cannot check my messages without it sticking up and lagging all the *** time, it has absolutely nothing to do with my connection. And no, I am not in the preview program.

 

I'm sure your friends can tell you that the PS4 does a worse job at multitasking than the X1. From my situation the New UI has been super fast accessing parties and messaging.

No problems here, have you tried a hard reset?

 

Its not great for me when snapping edge(or even using edge) so that aspect of multitasking is poor Imo. I have no issues with the dash but I find the 360 UI easier to use by far.
