The Xbox button not working, why?

When I am gaming and want to get to the dashboard fast, I would hit the Xbox Button. But that doesnt happen with one of my controllers, as well if I press the Xbox Button for 5 secs I would get the option of turning the xbox off, controller off. Nothing happens when I press the xbox button, Is there away to fix this? I have tried updating my controller firmware nd still nothing.

Thank you so much for that and I apologize for the trouble. If the controller is already updated but the same issue occurs we may need to get the controller repaired/replaced.

-Yes, it is only happening with one controller.

"Press and hold the Xbox button for 5-10 seconds, until the controller turns off.
Wait a few seconds, then press and hold the Xbox button again to turn the controller back on."

-Nothing happens, controller will not turn off.

Hi, I hope you're doing great out there. I am an Independent advisor and I am here to help you in regard to your concern.

I have here steps that we can try, please perform a power cycle on your console by following the steps below:

POWERCYCLE CONSOLE

1. Turn off your console by holding the Xbox button on the front of the console for approximately 10 seconds. The console will turn off.

2. Turn your console back on by pressing the Xbox button on the console or the Xbox button on your controller.

If that didn't work, I would like to clarify, this is only happening with one controller, correct? If yes, please perform a power cycle on your controller:

"Press and hold the Xbox button for 5-10 seconds, until the controller turns off.

Wait a few seconds, then press and hold the Xbox button again to turn the controller back on."

Do you know if your console or the controller received an update recently?
Did you tried using your controller on a different device?
For example connect it via cable to a PC or if your controller supports Bluetooth connect it to your phone
Is this happening with the controller connected via cable and wirelessly to your console?
Or only wirelessly / cable?
