The x-box one unit I purchased is overheating and shutting off

I purchased a new x-box for Christmas I started it up it ran for about an hour when it started shutting off because it is overheating.

Xbox one x overheating

My Xbox One X was unable to run the new Shadow of the Tomb Raider in 4K/HDR into 4K TV without shutting down just as game started with first cinematic [Lara’s Plane Crashing]. The message when I turn it back on relates to the unit overheating. I tried
shut down, unplug, uninstall, reload game, etc. - It is in the open, not enclosed space (I even tried cooling it with a fan) it kept shutting down in same place in that one game - other games work fine. I changed the game settings - from Highest Resolution
to Highest Framerate and turned off HDR and I was able to play the game for a while up until another major cinematic of an Apocalypse/Tsunami and it keeps shutting down in the same spot. I get weary of the standard questions/ suggestions - it should not need
unit hardware repair or replacement - it was a gift - and I find Online support Hard to navigate.clearly, the demands of the Shadow of the Tomb Raider exceed the unit it is designed for.

Sudden shut off's are usually related to the unit overheating or thinking it is overheating.

The Xbox One X will shut off should there be overheating, yes.

If your One X is completely shutting off, then I’ve had this happen to me a few times. If this is what’s happening to you, then it’s a bug in CoD (also happens in Borderlands 3 sometimes). I think it makes the One X think it is overheating. This causes the
console to shut down. Just check to make sure the console isn’t too hot and reboot.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is a Xbox One X enhanced game, which can make the console work harder and cause louder fan noise while running. If the fan can't cool the console down, then unfortunately the console can experience overheating. This is obviously
not a normal situation and can be a power supply issue since you already noted that it is well ventilated. I would recommend seeking repair to resolve the issue and hopefully your console is still under warranty.
