the wrong gamertag is showing up for my microsoft account email

It sounds like you signed into the wrong account with the wrong email. That's why you don't recognize

the gamertag that popper up.

I would suggest setting up a call back from an Xbox Live support agent by following the steps below. The agent would be able to find your account
by searching your Gamertag. If you can fortify your account, they'll let you know what email to use to sign into the right account.

Step 1 ----Select Xbox One

Step 2 ----Select See other options

Step 3 ----Select topic (Ex. System Update)

Step 4 ----Select "Show contact options"

Step 5 ----Select request a call from support

The most likely cause of this problem is that you logged into the wrong account and it created a new gamertag for that Microsoft account.

If you are currently logged into the correct email on xbox.com and it shows your correct gamertag at the top right, go to this page to see the email plainly shown:

If not, please see here to find your email to log in with on the previous account:
