The whole Smartglass stuff seems to lame to me!

I have a surface 2 from windows and I have an older model iPad.. the windows version... (I know same company) just works a hell of a lot better.. not even the smart glass app... but the way they are combined automatically... send me a message here.. it
pops up on my tablet like a cell phone...even if I am not using it..

 

I have noticed, that i do get message notifications, but the friends list doesn't seem to update when the apps open, soo you have to come off friends and then back on to see if people are now online.

 

It has potential, but I'm not finding any real value in the way it's set up now. Maybe in a year, once more people buy the new console, it'll get better.

The 360 version is okay, but it looks weird to me, like my avatar just stepped out of a soap opera.

 

Has anyone used the smartglass in movie? I have seen some of the XB1 movies have a smartglass companion for them... I was tempted.. but seems to be only purchases get them...

 

It works perfectly as a remote for watching bluejays or DVDs. It works great as a keypad when searching or browsing the net. It is excellent for sending MSG on xbox live. Great for checking stats or achievements in games. Good for browsing for friends and
checking there stats and vid uploads.. And on my iPad it works flawlessly as a map screen on bf4 to give you a whole view of the battlefield at one time. Oh and it's good for checking if trolls actually own an X1 when they talk crap about it. There is a lot
more too! Personally I think it's a great tool to compliment the X1!

I thought it was a lot of fun using it for Dead Rising 3. Calling in an air strike? Hilarious.

 

OP, seems like you are only using the Xbox 360 version, the Xbox One version is seperate and allows you to see everything Xbox One related. It's actually pretty decently set up.

I think it has a lot of potential. It was fun to use on DR 3, and worked seamlessly (for me). I imagine a game like Watchdogs will make great use of it.

That's kind of the way I feel about it. Now this is JMO... but here's something that seems odd to me. Many people are saying it works so much better for messaging than the pop up KB and I agree it does. In fact, I used it for messaging for awhile. But then
I plugged my wireless KB into my XB1 and it made it that much easier. It just seems like there's less hassle and it's quicker, easier and more intuitive to just use the controller to navigate my XB1's UI and only have to reach for the KB to do the actual typing
than to fumble around with my phone. Maybe it's because I just find it less distracting to do it that way, IDK. I haven't bothered using the smart glass app since then.

Of course, that being said, I don't watch movies much and mostly just game for now. Maybe if I watched movies more I'd use the smart glass app on my phone for the remote.

Well to be honest I just use the voice to navigate the UI. Seems quicker to me as you can say where you want to go directly, put less stress on the controller. Then you can use the keyboard. But getting to messages on Smartglass seems pretty quick to me.
Especially nice when you're in a game and get a message and don't want to stop your action.

App worked great in DR3 as well as the Kinect voice commands, but I take it your to "hard core " to use either one or maybe your just a troll.

 

I am not a fan of it. Is ok for some reasons mentioned above but i hate when a game content that should be in game is only accesible via SG.
