  2. Deciding to go all digital. have a few questions.

^ I talked with a Blockbuster manager. He said they went out of bus bc some corps spent loads of cash lobbying Congress to make certain rulings.

We will see just how good/bad of an impact that will make on the gaming/video industry. I 4 1 bet they (US/world economy/industry) dont EVER recoup the billions lost.

    A Unified Console

Competition spurs greatness. If the big three didn't have to compete against each other anymore, the console video game industry will fall apart.

Its the governments though, that have the final say. they would have to also convince the australian and nz governments too as we have stricter consumer rights legislation. but most consumers here just ask for a new console if their console is under warranty
and faulty. microsoft in their terms of service specify if you aquired your membership outside of the us your countries laws apply. and the law is above any contract. companies (depending on where you live) are not allowed to minimize your rights. the governments
set up laws to help protect us and to bring order. they arent gonna change it just because of a bunch of american people are lobbying to.

  5. Elected officials can't get reelected without loads of . so the'll take the gaming industries bribs (campaign contributions) and kill any bill the industry wishes. Then other states, countries will see a way to make a quick buck/euro and before you know
it, the gaming industry will be out billions more in bribe money.

Oh well, MS and Sony can afford it.

    Best clickbait ever? Er, TL;DR.

Dunno what all the fuss is about, as once I saw they were advocating "independent repairs" (translation: any Jimbob on the street), I looked away. Why would you entrust a valued piece of hardware to some backstreet dealer who might not even wash their hands
after using the restroom? Seems like a recipe for disaster, IMO. Furthermore, as somebody who *does* value their gaming devices, I've never in more than TWO DECADES of gameplaying ever sent a console for repair! Perhaps I'm uncommonly lucky, or perhaps I just
treat my possessions with due respect?

In which case, if anything *did* go wrong, I wouldn't be looking for a refurbished model, but a *new* one. The thought of taking apart a factory-sealed product and applying linament or a toothpick (for argument's sake) just turns my stomach. Bottom line: take
care of your valuable devices, people. Do not interfere with them and they will remain in good working condition. #gospeltruth

  7. Why would you trust a third party repair shop? Pricing would be my guess.

Microsoft wanted around $100 from a friend of mine to repair his Xbox 360. The parts from eBay to do the job himself cost less than $5. Even factoring in shipping and insurance, how on Earth did Microsoft arrive at that $100 price point?

The reason they don't want third party repair stores or to allow us to do the repairs ourselves (without risking a console ban) is that they make quite a lot of money from repairing systems. This isn't just a Microsoft thing, look at the exorbitant prices Apple
charge to replace a screen on a iPhone.

Some people seem to be under the impression that repairing electronics is insanely difficult. It's usually not. I'd much rather spend an hour or two of my time and make sure it's done right before sending it off with $100 to some random sweat shop worker,
only to be sent back someone else's cheeto encrusted console in return.

From my experience Microsoft are crap at repairing their consoles which is why I would rather buy a new console than pay them to do it if it was out of warranty.

Most of the time it would of been an easy fix if I could of done it myself & a lot cheaper.

What? That Microsoft are crap at repairing consoles or that it would be easier & cheaper to do it yourself in most cases?

If it's Microsoft's mess, THEY should be the ones to fix it, and fix THEIR MESS, not for the customer to arrange it. Microsoft is required by law, to fix it. Luckily most customers (if under warranty) just request a refund or a new console, as it's a quick
solution. My turtle beach 500x broke TWICE in the last 12 months (it developed cracks cuz of the cheap plastic they use). I got a new pair of turtle beach 500x on both occasions, and the retailer paid for same day shipping. Being a major company worldwide,
Microsoft should be setting an example in terms of excellent customer service. But *some* people are happy to repair it themselves. But Microsoft's policy is, consoles with firmware of unknown origin, quality or intent get banned permanently from Xbox Live.
In their Code of Conduct, it states "Don’t cheat or tamper. For example, don't:

    • Use unauthorized hardware or software"

That could mean repairing a console yourself without an authorized Microsoft service person and authorized hardware from Microsoft.

Imagine people repairing their console and using their own CPU/GPU/RAM etc or what have you.

You're right, they should fix it but the repairs they perform are sub par & they charge a fortune for it if you are out of warranty.

Who wants to pay half the price of a new console to get it repaired only for it to break again 3 or 4 months later.

And I wouldn't count on them following consumer laws either, trust me I speak from experience.

  14. That xbox repair is crap at actually repairing xbox consoles.

Case in point; I sent in my xbox 3 times within 2 months for the exact same problem. On the 3rd go around, they replaced my console with a used xbox which after being plugged in, sho sparks out the back of the unit. When I called and reported it. "Sorry
Sir but your warranty expired on blah, blah, blah. So what payment method would you like to use?"

$120 Bucks? I think not, so I donated it to the bins of history..

Origional Xbox Console, but that experence taught me not to trust xbox repair centers. Xbox Phone Support, even though the only ones I could voice my discuss to. Was not to blame!.

  15. They would follow consumer laws if provisions were put in place that allowed protection agencies to not only levy huge fines, but also pull fines directly out of National or International corporate accounts/holdings.
