Why This Is Happening

Well, to be frank. We all have horrible internet connections. When a game installs (and you say yes to the update), it downloads the update first then it installs the game. This means that if you have below average download speeds, like me, this may take
a while.

How To Fix It

1st: Disconnect from your connection source, and then install the game offline.

2nd: Goof around or do something else until you go to bed.

3rd: Reconnect to your internet provider and start downloading the update for your game

4th: Turn your controller off.

5th: Turn your TV off.

6th: Go to bed

7th: wake up

8th: turn your TV on

9th: Turn your controller on

10th: Enjoy your game.

What Is Happening

Due to our low connection speeds, the download is taking forever. When you start the download (after installing the game offline), the install will go to 95%. After about an hour to 2 hours, it will go up by 1% and continue like that until it is done.
I have a 0.5 Mbps download speed. I estimate a 4-6 hour download (1 Gb). It may differ with you but this is the jist of it.

My xbox one is being weird.

So you have a problem we gave you a solution but you don't want to fix the problem? Pointless thread then....how about this clear your cache, make sure your Xbox is plugged into the wall and maybe that will fix the "issue"

 

installing is so screwed up!

Microsoft has very predictible and stable downloading and installs for the 360. Phil Spencer said Xbox One install problems are one of his highest priority issues to fix on the Xbox One. Question: with all of the software and hardware experience Microsoft has, how could they launch the One with install issues this severe and why hasn't it been fixed in an update.? Were almost a year in and people are still having problems with game installation.

Yes, I can confirm this behavior of the X1.

MS needs to learn, that high bandwidth is only available in metropolitan cities, especially in Europe, and that most gamers have something around 2-6 Mbit.

With Ryse I saw a special disaster, which should never happen. Yesterday I installed it and after downloading the 3GB patch for 2 hours, it said ready to start. But when I started the campaign, it said: installing ... because the patch download wasn't finished.
I waited and waited and the X1 went to sleep. When I restarted it an hour later, I was thrown into the campaign without having seen the intro video ... what the hell.

Common MS, you can do better than that !!!

 

I don't think they could escape large downloads. Battlefield 3 (360) had 1-2 Gb updates and this is what I would do for those.

What MS could control was the fact that:

A: You are forced to do all downloads. The 360 only required the download, or you would be signed out of LIVE, not quit out of the game.

B: There is no indicator/tutorial on what is happening. I would have been much happier if there were separate bars for the update and the installation.

C: The X1 requires an online connection too much. Basically, to do anything, you need some form of connection. Like the avatar or achievements.

And you are correct. I believe most xbox users are in the U.S. meaning a lot of xbox users could have lower than normal connections. What irks me is that they didn't foresee this. What also irks me is that they didn't foresee this and basically made the
PS4 a shiny example of how gaming systems should be.

 

That's exactly the point ... the world sees the PS4 as the clear winner. MS needs to hurry up to convince people of the opposite and they don't have much time. Gamers buy, what their friends already have!
