The https://account.microsoft.com/family website shows the time which my kid spends on the xbox. But for the last few weeks, it keeps showing false times.

There is a set time limit of 1h30m every day for his account, but sometimes the website shows an amount of over two hours played.

Today it shows he played 2h15m, however I was in the same room with the XBox, and it was only used for 1h45m.

On thursday (TranslationThe time in the https://account.microsoft.com/family is not correct :Donnerstag) he played alone, no one else was logged in, and it shows 2h, although his time limit is 1h30m for thursday.

Where could the difference in time come from? The only explanation I have is that I played with him today for about 30 minutes, we were both logged in for 30m. Could this be possible the difference?

    Hi M.,

Thanks for reaching out, and I'm sorry that you are having this issue with the family activity reporting feature.

First, I would like to clarify what is supposed to show up: Any time that your child's profile is signed in on the Xbox will be counted on their activity report, and counted against screen time allowance. It does not matter whether they are actively playing
a game, not doing anything, or even just signed-in in the background while someone else plays under a second profile.

Second, there are a couple things I'd like to check:

    • If you go to https://account.microsoft.com/profile/ , and then click on "Edit country/region", it will show the time zone setting for your Microsoft account, which is used when sending your activity report. Is it accurate?
    • If you go to https://account.microsoft.com/family/ , you can bring up the activity report for your child. Does this look more like what you expect?
    Thanks,

    Daniel

I can confirm the same issue, it's been reporting incorrectly for about 2 months now.

As @EnabledAunt323 said before, it looks like the bottom chart (Screen time by days) doubles all figures.

Time limits seem to work perfectly on the Xbox itself. For example my son would be logged out after exactly 2 hours of play with a time limit of 2h but it comes up as 4h for the day in the bottom chart.

The chart is not very unusable this way and lead to unnecessary arguments by the time we figured out the issue and that the top chart totals exactly half of the bottom chart.

The good news is that the error is consistent so dividing each day by half gives us the correct time.

Please fix it as it is such a helpful tool otherwise.

    Hello M,

Sorry for the issue with the times. This as mentioned above looks like it is a bug as it is showing the amounts totaled and not separate. It maybe due to it counts the family as a unit. Lets try wait and see what happens after the next console update and
see if it changes any. Not trying to brush it off as there really isn't a lot of troubleshooting for this as it is on the account website itself. I am having this looked into in hopes to find out, be aware it may take some time.

    Thanks,

    Brad

    Hello

Thank you for bringing this situation to our attention here on the forums. To answer your questions yes the time spent with the adult account signed in could be interpreted as approved extra screen time because you were playing together. That would account
for the time inconsistencies you're noticing.

    Hi Diego,

    thanks for your reply.

I did what you said, I removed the time limits for the kids account, but the issue still remains.

After that, I removed the account of my son from the Xbox, I performed a Xbox power cycle and readded the childs account.

    The problem is still there.

The Xbox itself is counting the time correctly, only the website is showing wrong times.

It seems, like it counts more accounts together.

On sunday the account of my son was active for 30 minutes, when I looked on the webpage after that, the time was correct.

Later the same day, I played 20 minutes from my Xbox account, the account of my son was not active.

After that, the web page displayed an activitiy time of 50 minutes on the account of my son. It seems to add the time of his account and my account.

I think it is a bug on the https://account.microsoft.com/family.

Can one of you report this bug to the software department?

    Thanks and regards,

    Manuel
