  1. The story of my Xbox 360

My Xbox 360 was purchased near the end of 2006. The warranty was expired a year later in 2007. My Xbox lasted about a year and a half before it stopped working. It started with graphics glitches and freezing during games or during start up of the console.
After about a week the console would no longer start up and instead had a blank screen and three lights flashing around the power button. Since I knew my warranty was expired I didn't bother to call support because I did not have the money to pay for repairs.
My 360 console was dead and I could no longer use my console. I chalked it up as my loss and a sad loss it was for me. Fast forward to today: I tried turning my Xbox on again to see if it might miraculously work. No such luck. I ended up searching the problem
and found all kinds of information about the problem my Xbox was having. From what I understand the problem has a knick name "Red Ring of Death" and Microsoft recognized the problem as a hardware defect/failure and was more than happy to help customers get
their consoles repaired even after expired warranties. Unfortunately for me, I was unaware of this opportunity and missed the window to have my console repaired by quite a few years. I contacted support (today) just to check if there were any options available
to me. Long story short, the rep I spoke with informed me it was not a possibility to have my console repaired through Microsoft. On to bigger and better things: I have given up on my 360 The story of my Xbox 360 :( and am thinking about purchasing a new gaming console. While I have
enjoyed playing Microsoft's games, I feel like I wasted $400 on a console that ultimately only gave me a little over a year of use. I took good care of my console, keeping it in a well ventilated area and always turning the console off when not using it. So,
I don't understand how my xbox became a victim of a problem, that as far as I have read, seems to be related to over heating of the console.

In the end, I feel slightly ripped off, or at least as though I got a pretty bum deal. I already know Xbox customer support is awesome and first in class and I am very thankful that it has been so easy to get answers when speaking to them. When my original
Xbox was having trouble reading discs my problem was solved right away. And now with a 360 console that's 9 years old customer service still does their very best to help me. So awesome! I just really wish I could have played more games on my Xbox 360.

My question to Microsoft is this: Is there any consolation that can be offered to me? I really don't feel like the money I spent on the 360 and the games for it went a long ways. It would be nice if I was offered some sort of discount or voucher towards
a new Xbox One. Or really, any token of appreciation for a valued customer who's looking for any reason to stay loyal to the Xbox gaming platform.

Thanks for taking the time to read this, and honestly, I'll probably purchase the Xbox One either way. I just wanted to reach out and let Microsoft know how I feel about my 360 experience.

    -Daniel

    :)

  2. Alan Wake Remastered (Quantum Break Preorder)?

I agree, tCruzin. Would love to play Alan Wake (remastered) on my Xbox One. Was one of my favorites, with a great story, on the 360.

  3. Is There Any Specific reason?

I have loads of original Xbox games and only put Halo CE in the 360 once just to see if it worked! End of my story.

It has been several years I highly doubt they will repair or replace it. You should of taken advantage of the free send in for repair years ago for the red ring issue. Cut your losses and move on.

  6. Actually I thought it was odd to post this to a forum. I was told by MS Xbox support to post a my question. Don't get mad at me for asking a question. Sometimes you never know till you ask. Actually, it was Microsoft Customer Support that told me this forum
was for customer support related questions. And considering I only had a year of use out of my console I would say I already cut my losses. I just hoped that Microsoft would have a heart for this lousy situation considering it's clearly a hardware manufacturing
defect that plagued many of their customers. Whats a $25-$50 voucher to them when the customers are forking over $400 for their consoles? Anyways, it was a long shot I know. Although, now I feel stupid listening to the customer support rep telling me to post
this to the forum. They made it sound like this was another avenue of getting support from Microsoft. Guess I was duped... Why would they tell me that this was a CSR forum if it's not? Bad support rep, bad! I guess they wanted to turn me off from Microsoft
    completely. Good job.

CS sends people to the forums all the time knowing there is no help to get here, usually because 1) they can't help 2) they don't know how to help 3) they don't want to help ....... and most importantly 4) so they can clear their lines and not get yelled
at by the irate customer. I'm surprised if they sent you to this part of the forum though, usually they send everybody to the Rewards forum even when their problem has nothing to do with rewards.

If you still have your games and want to continue playing them, I suggest checking Pawn shops for a 360 Slim or E model console.

Often you can pick up a 320 - 500 GB slim or E model for around 70 bucks, and if you want a New Xbox One trade it in at GS for 120 bucks towards the purchase of an X1.

So if you play your cards right. You yourself could obtain in essence a 50 voucher of sorts.

Just one thing though, when dealing with a pawn shop. If they have then priced at 100 bucks and ask you. 'What would you be willing to pay?' Always start low (40 bucks) and let them be the first to refuse. They hate saying. 'No, we'll just set on it.' as
they will often want electronic items sold yesterday.

If you come to terms. Have them plug it up and play a few games on it as well as DVD's to make sure it works b4 forking over the dough. Then off to GS if you so wish.

The biggest potential problem with a used 360 is that it could be banned from online.

  10. ^ The chances of that are slim. Maybe 1 out of a million. So slim in fact that I would venture to guess that a person has an even greater chance of picking up a used xbox 360 slim with RROD issues as opposed to one that was banned.

And what are the odds of a 360 Slim or E model having Red Rings of Death issues? I've never heard of any, have you?

  11. I really appreciate everyone's feedback. There's some good ideas I had not thought of. Unfortunately, I'm kind of a picky and easily offended person and the CSR lying to me is a big no no. I was polite and kind with no fuss or mess. Concise and to the point
and overall only 5-10 min of Microsoft's time was used. I don't call to be a nuisance and being lied to and told this was a customer support forum makes me feel like I was perceived as nuisance. So long story short, until I see some compelling reason to fly
back in Microsofts direction I think I'll steer clear from their products for a while. Don't get me wrong I feel the Xbox is an amazing product but fortunately for me I'm not a serious gamer and I really don't have to have the overpriced hobby. Anyone want
    an old RROD paperweight?

    Signing out,

You saying that and pulling a rate out of the air doesn't make it true. People get their xbox's banned everyday, that is a fact. Many of them are going to turn around and off load them to GS, ebay, pawn shops, yard sales etc it order to get money to buy
    a new one.
