    The so-called "Update" for the Kinect and Voice-Commands.


    "Hey, Cortana. [Mod Removed]"





    • Voice Commands have become slower to respond.
    • We've lost direct-command ability.
    • The Xbox itself is slower to respond-to/react-to/process voice commands.
    • You can no-longer go seamlessly from T.V. or Movies to Games.
    Somebody explain to me where, in all of this crap, is the "upgrade"? Cortana sucks. Please, give me back the Xbox-Commands, or at least give me the option to choose between Cortana-Commands and Xbox-Commands. I've never felt the need to
    post on this forum before, but these ridiculous downgrades are just begging for someone to say something, so it may as well be me.

    This isn't an either/or scenario. You could easily have Kinect voice commands AND a mini-dash.

    If you didn't want to use the mini-dash you could continue to simply use the voice commands.

    Don't want to use voice commands for some reason, you've lost your voice for example or simply don't have Kinect plugged in, you can use the mini-dash.

    Surely having the option for both is a step forwards, not back.

    And for the record, it's actually become faster to just double-tap your home-button and hit X or Y if you're trying to capture gameplay. But even that's a crap-shoot because it's a 50/50 on whether or not that brings up the "record/screen shot" menu, or
    just takes you out of the game and back to the home-screen.

    Well, just to give you an idea of how useful the Kinect can be for that so-called "clunky" interface, here's how to use

    voice commands     and
    gestures    . ;)

    It's all actually very easy and intuitive to use. :)

    Unfortunately at this time I don't think there is a voice command to access this menu - at least none that I've found and none are listed on the Kinect Voice Command sheet. Here's a list of current voice commands:

    October 2019 update broke the Kinect

    Well, Cortana is no more for Kinect. That feature was removed like around the previous update.
    Exactly, here is the information for the official patch notes:

    Hey Cortana, it’s been real

    With the October update, Cortana will no longer be available on Xbox, except as the digital assistant on the Harmon Kardon Invoke intelligent speaker.

    However, voice interaction will still be possible for those with a Kinect sensor, using the Xbox voice commands. For a list of original voice commands, see
