The Smartglass

So they just had a major update on the smartglass app to make it so much more intuitive. Being able to purchase and view the feed in the palm of our hands...

I had one more idea for it. Just simply being able to turn your system on via smartglass. Just for the reason that you might be out of audio range of the kinect, etc..

What other ideas did you have for the 'Glass?

i dont' see the need to have console powering on via Smartglass. if you're that far out of range, what would it matter anyway? just walk closer and turn it on. i don't see the benefit at all.

 

I guess for game updates it would be good. But like vDEACON said why not walk up to it and turn it on.

 

It wouldn't matter for game updates, Z. For Smartglass to have the ability to do that, your console would have to be in a low power state. Since your console already downloads updates in the low-power state, the feature would be redundant.

 

I wouldnt mind the ability to browse shows on Netflix, HULU or Amazon on Smartglass while said app is already showing on the TV...

No. You can use SmartGlass for just about everything without your Xbox One being on. You can buy games, switch pins, check stuff etc etc ... you obviously just can't control the console itself.

 

mmm it wont find my xbox on network unless it turned on have to say i really enjoyed using it on dead rising 3 what other games offer the feature

 

Deacon, you actually can control the Xbox as long as you are connected to it... the "now playing" section on the bottom, you can click the "controller" which gives you the ABXY home start and menu buttons with a swipe motion of up down left or right

 

^^ You didnt read Deacon's post correctly. He was replying to Cheesy. You cannot control your console unless it is on.

 

how exactly can you control the Xbox if it's not on? he asked if SmartGlass was essentially unusable if the Xbox were off, and that's not true. however, if the console is off there won't be any "now playing" etc so i'm not sure how you control it if it's
off.
