  1. The signal to my tv from my xbox is interrupted/ won't produce sound

K so recently I've been having some issues with my xbox. I took it to my father's house and plugged it into his tv and it worked great. When I came back home and plugged it in, I noticed that it'll work fine, the cut to black screen and it says no signal.
It comes back, only to flick off again. I've tried all the troubleshooting you guys have suggested in a previous thread. I even changed the HDMI, and now the sound doesn't work, even after switching the cables back. I've also noticed a small small ring comes
from the xbox when the HDMI cable is plugged in, when it's unplugged, no noise.

    TV: Viso model E470VA

    Thanks gang!

    :)

  3. Xbox One sound control question

Is it possible to control which device the Xbox One send the volume signal to? I have my X1 going HDMI into a sound bar, and the sound bar HDMI into the TV. Is it possible to send the volume control signal to the TV? Right now the X1 sends the signal to
    the sound bar.

Xbox not video not showing for Samsung Q90R sound bar

Are the Netflix and Disney Plus Apps installed on the TV itself (so the TV is the actual sound source), or are you using an external device for these Apps (like a Fire-TV Stick or other set-top box connected to the TV)?

You might have to contact Samsung support, so they could tell you if it's possible at all to get Atmos returned to the sound bar from an external HDMI source.

Since it costs an additional license from Dolby to return Dolby from an input to another output device, some TV makers won't allow certain audio signals to go from an external input to a soundbar or audio receiver, and only have sound that is produced by
the TV itself go to an external audio system.

    usb sound cards

Having looked at the item from the URL posted, it looks like a USB adapter for mic and speaker. Not an actual sound card.
My wife has that to connect her headset to her MacBook Pro. It *is* a USB device that produces sound via USB. So it does have a chipset inside which decodes digital signals from the Mac to analogue audio and vice versa for the microphone.

So it is a USB soundcard.

But still: it won't work with the Xbox One.

    Surround sound not working

Most TVs dumb down incoming surround-sound audio signals to a stereo when outputting via it's optical out, unless the signal is from it's internal tuner.

So in basic English, if you plug a surround sound device into your optical in on the tv, it converts the surrurant sound signal to stereo. If you want to get surround sound from your Xbox you need to plug it in to a receiver or another device that will
    not down convert the signal.

here is a good article to read:
    www.cnet.com/.../20-tvs-tested-which-sets-can-pass-surround-sound-to-a-sound-bar

I have this prob on my TV as well, so I use a Sony Receiver or my Turtle Beach headsets, that have surround or simulated surround.

Sadly Element is not known for making high end devices and this is an issue that plagues most TVs except the high end and very high end, and even then it's a feature that still does not appear to often.

    Optical switch for xbox one

My suspicion is that since it appears to be a simple optical splitter (just bouncing the light through a piece of plastic), it doesn't block out the signal from the tv but routes both it and the signal from the Xbox One through on top of one another.

If the signal from the Xbox One works when connected directly to the sound system, you can get a Toslink switch with a manual toggle for quite cheap. The downside is that you have to switch it manually between the Xbox One and tv.

Also make sure that your sound system supports Dolby Digital over the Toslink input. If it doesn't, there is no real benefit from routing the sound directly from the Xbox One over tapping it from the tv's optical output.

If you can specify the make and model of the tv and sound system it can help in figuring out the best solution.

Xbox One with A/V receiver ?s

I don't have the problems that you have, I just have the problem that my TV overrides the xbox ones signal and my receiver goes to TV sound instead of the xbox. It is very annoying. Going through HDMI does not give me DTS sound to the receiver because the
xbox is sending a completely uncompressed signal (PCM) to the receiver. Then I can manipulate the signal how I want to on the receiver.
