    The Balder Shield, the Spider Shield, and the Blood Shield, the Crest Shield, and the Dragon Crest Shield are all pretty good medium shields. The greatshield of Artorias is also the best greatshield in my opinion.

    Gold spiky shield - where is it?

    There are 3 spiked shields I can think of - Crystal Shield, Spiky Shield and Crystal Ring Shield.

    Have a look here, I think you may be referring to the Spiky Shield, which NPC invader Kirk drops (the phantom that invades in the depths) the second time you encounter him.

    Went up to level 56 without ever using a shield.

    But now with most of my skills at 100, I'm taking up Blocking and hoping to improve that to continue leveling up.

    Time to use Toa's Defender (dragon bone shield with magic resistance and block fortification)

    Lady Bastet; have you tryed selling items back to merchant on at a time to up your Speech skill? It is a good way to up it and get better deals. So you may afford more Soul Gems.
