The secret weapon for many problems.... at least for me.

FULL SYSTEM REBOOT! As you know, when you say "Xbox turn off" It never really turns off, just sorta goes into standby. I've had issues when my drive won't even pull a disc in (positive it's related to updates.) I've found if you hold the power button on
the console 6 seconds or so, the system completely turns off, the Kinect, everything, doesn't even respond to voice commands. Upon full reboot, my system installs game patches, updates etc, like a pc, and functions normally. It's a pain in the ***, but at
least it works.

That's cool, at least you get to pick your favorite weapon. Lucky for me most of mine are actually the starter weapons!

 

Good advice. I'd also add to that, every time I go back to the main home screen I highlight the large main window, press the menu button and select quit. I do this after exiting a game or browsing the store, or apps etc. i have had no issues with anything
since i started doing this over a month ago.

 

Hi, do you mean you can't get the system to power off fully? Basically, you seem to have your Xbox on "Instant On" mode. If you go to
Settings, you can go to Power-on and Startup. When you do this, change your power mode to "Energy Saving" mode. This way, when you turn the console off, it will turn off completely, but will not respond to
"Xbox on".



Please note that holding the power button will FORCE power down your Xbox, usually only used when troubleshooting and turning off your Xbox if it has crashed etc.

Actually medium bloke, he was giving advice on how to get games that hang to work again if you are using the Instant On feature. This is good advice as I had to do the same thing last week in order to get my copy of CoD: Ghosts to work as it kept quitting
to the dashboard. Once I did a full shut down and unplugged it for a couple of minutes, it booted up on the first try.

 

Good advice Bloke. I'm thinking of turning mine off completely at night now anyway. and yes, mine was more intended as a troubleshooting tip. but your tips is also a good one for other reasons.
