"The sample rate for your microphone isn't supported" - Mic already enabled in Privacy Settings

I am able to say "Hey cortana" and cortana opens and works properly. When I go to control panel and perform microphone setup, the microphone works perfectly.

But when I open XboxApp and start party chat, I still get the error "The sample rate for your microphone isn't supported"
Still after all troubleshooting steps done so far, every application that utilizes the microphone has no problem. The only application that has a problem is the XBOX APP when I connect to or start a Party chat.

Method 1: Perform a clean boot, this helps eliminate software conflicts that occur when you install a program or an update or when you run a program in Windows 10. Here is the link on
how to perform a clean boot.

Method 2: Check for updates for apps and games from Windows Store, Here are steps below:

• Select Start > Microsoft Store .
• Select More (three dots) near the search box, then select Downloads & updates.
• On the Downloads and updates page, choose Get updates.

Method 3: Try to sign in as a different user, here's how to switch your profile data:

1. Press the Windows button on your device or keyboard, or select the Windows icon from the bottom-left corner of the main screen.
2. Select your account name from the top-left corner of the menu, and then select Switch account.
3. Sign in with an account other than the one you were using.
4. Restart the game to see if it works correctly.

Method 4: Try using a different device.

I still have my system in clean boot mode as I am still troubleshooting. I followed this guide already and have left my system that way until I figure this out.

I have already updated all apps on the microsoft app store.

I created a new administrator account on my PC and downloaded the XBOX App from app store. I still get the same message "The sample rate for your microphone isn't supported"
There are others with this same issue that have not found resolution. I have tried to reach out to them in this thread. Windows 10 Xbox App Part Chat Issue

I have tried using a different microphone both analog and usb, I have tried disabling the onboard realtek sound and using a completely different sound device, I have tried 2 different microphones even though they are both analog with analog connections. But
still theses same devices work perfectly in all other windows applications including Cortana speech recognition! If I go in to windows microphone setup wizard it works perfectly!

I think we can rule out the microphone/headsets.



As you can see these are plain analog headsets and do not have any adjustment for sound other than volume up down and mute.

Downloaded and installed the Windows 10 Feature Update 1803 this resolved the problem!
