So the Scorpio is out next year and we've all been told that if you don't have a 4k TV there's not much point to the upgrade. However there's some confusion for me, maybe because I'm just thick. Now obviously it has to be 4k, so that slightly narrows it
down. Then you have motion blur, input lag, response time, what Hz it can run, frame rate, does it have HDMI 2.0, does it need HDMI 2.0, also what's this hccp 2.2 thingy that the HDMI must do?. Budget is also a factor.

Can we safely " future proof " ourselves by getting one now, do we know the actual specs of the Scorpio?

Now seeing as I'm thick, and most of you lot are pretty clued up on technology. What TV would you advise, given a budget of £800/$1000?

    :)

    4k TV

An Xbox One right now, no 4k TV will make a difference. It will retain Input at 1080p only. For the Xbox One S and Project Scorpio, start looking for deals and prices like

    Google

In addition, to realize the best image possible make sure the 4k TV has HDR as a feature. All 4k TV's do not feature HDR.

I have decided not to upgrade to 4K

The difference is huge. Like D33dles said you need the right TV and media. I saw a 4k TV with Toy Story playing on it and my jaw was on the ground.

Also, there are other reasons to buy a Scorpio other than 4k. The graphics should be 10 times better than now and that is even if you keep them at 1080p. Awesome graphics and resolution are 2 different things.

The Scorpio will also give you VR among other things.

I'd wait until next year to buy a 4K tv. They're already dropping in price so it's safe to assume they'll be even cheaper next year. I see them on sale now in the €500 to €600 range from LG and Samsung sets.

Samsung and Sony are the best brands. LG and Panasonic are below that but are alright brands. 800 pounds which is equivalent to roughly NZ$1700 is still steep for a 4K TV. Wait until they have sales maybe they'll drop to 500 pounds or something. I know Sony
has some HTV models where the display has Gorilla Glass which is really good, because LED screens are prone to damage. I've dropped my phone badly several times and it's survived with no damage thanks to gorilla glass.

Market leaders due to cost of unit and using cheaper materials are currently samsung and LG. Sony have been in decline for years and Panasonic will always set you back more money but you get better quality. I would personally go with Samsung just because
you get the best mixture of top features but for cheaper prices in comparison to other brands.

im surprised smile didnt post his PC specs as they seem to be relevant in anything else he/she posts

    Probably a Panasonic TX-65DX902B isn't a bad choice.

It's certainly a better television than the equivalent Samsung or Sony offerings.

LG also smash Samsung and Sony out of the park with their LG 65EC970V which features OLED technology.
