The return of Xbox Live Spambots!

Not to sound dramatic or anything, but...

They're back! The bane of our existence! The scourge of Xbox Live! The bots have returned!

Alright, in all seriousness, I have only encountered one, and it was hilariously obvious. Stock name, no games played, almost immediately asked for my phone number. The entire thing was actually quite humorous to me.

Instead of spamming out website links, this one was a bit more sophisticated. (Had to stop myself laughing at calling them that) Basically, this ine had a bunchof pre-written messages it would send one after the other, after a response and delay, to try
and simulate a real person. It's semi-convincing, and could potentially fool someone assuming they're desperate enough, but honestly it's more likely they'll do what I did: laugh for a while, play along until absolutely certain, then block and report.

While we're on the subject, I've got an idea: why not make a list of these bots? It'd certainly make it easier to identify them, and I'm fairly certain that if you look into their message history they'll stick out like a sore thumb. I'll start with mine:

Where's the online community gone?

It's worse than that over on the Support section Unreal. There they actually get Spambots posting.

Damn, I so wanted to create a new accou nt with the GT ChewyRocketeer0, now I won't be able to because this spambot used it up.

 

If you haven't already, you need to file complaint on them via the console. Calling out other gamers is not allowed on the forums.

 

But does that apply when they're not even gamers? They haven't touched any games, they're not even humans. They're bots, out to get our information or whatever they do.

I have blocked and reported them though. Just like the second one who messaged me just today. Same lines and everything. Wonder if it's the same person behind it all...

If it is a spam/bot account then if you report it the enforcement team will look into it & ban the account from live.
