The Outer Worlds won't launch from Xbox beta app (got it with game pass)

Played The Outer Worlds yesterday for quite some time without any problems. Today i wanted to launch the game via the xbox app & also tried it with microsoft store and it just won't launch, it minimizes the app and doesn't do anything.

I had some problems trying to open any game pass game in my computer for weeks, and I solved it. The problem was my time/date, it was wrong and at the exact moment that I adjusted it 5 instances of The Outer Worlds that I was trying to open launched right
away, so it was quite clear that this was the problem.

Other launchers worked flawlessly, so it is a problem exclusive to the windows stores apps.

It appears to be a permissions issue the game and WindowsApps/TrustedInstaller. I was able to fix it by changing the install location or by taking ownership of the WindowsApps directory the latter option is likely risky but should get the game working until
they sort this out.

Hi, you said launch the game via the xbox app & also tried it with microsoft store, have you launch it simply via the windows start
menu? I had a similar problem with the Xbox app (there are two updates of that) and it allowed me to launch the game I was on at the moment.

I'm having exactly the same problem and unfortunately the game crashes instantly when launched from the start menu too.

It looks like there's not much of a solution currently.

Hey there. I was having a similar issue but may of found a fix? (Currently in process).

After waiting nearly 2 hours for it to download, it kept prompting me to install it (when I've just done so) hence looking online for help.

For starters, open up your task manager and ensure all Xbox App's are not running in the background; secondly run the Xbox App (beta) as Admin.

After I performed this it was redownloading the game for me, so as I type the game is being downloaded again, hopefully it will work so I encourage you to give this a go aswell?

It has now given me the option to Play rather than Install.

Sadly it wasn’t date time change for me. Didn’t work on any platform and i even purchased the game from Epic and it still refused to work. When i re-installed windows 10 pro without the “N” version it corrected the region issue and it launched without
a problem. So i ended up buying the game for nothing but it’s not a bad thing to support the game designers for sure, so i have no regrets.
