The Outer Worlds stopped working - always opens "Gaming Services"

Thanks for your replies! My Windows is up to date - I just checked it again today.

I think I saw this powershell command already in some other post and tried that (without re-installing the game). It took forever to donload the gaming services (even though it tells it just wants to download 6MB).

And is it really needed to download the game again? I do not have the fastest internet connection - and what will tell me that it will work this time for more than a week? I cannot download the full game like once a week if the store decides to not like
my game anymore?

Thanks for coming to the Xbox forums. We recommend to reinstall the game service.

Try reinstalling gaming services. To do this:

• Launch powershell as an administrator and enter “get-appxpackage Microsoft.GamingServices | remove-AppxPackage -allusers”
  
• In the same powershell window, enter “start ms-windows-store://pdp/?productid=9MWPM2CQNLHN”
  
• Install the app on that page, including accepting the UAC prompt when shown.
  
• Try installing the game again.

Same thing happend to me as well, I could play Metro , today when I started it freeze on loading after main menu. I spend 4! days to dowload multiple times forza4 just to found out it will take infinity loading up- take a guess where - right after main
menu, can't play.

I thought : I recently change my mouse and install some software for it, maybe it's that - NOPE

Follow few instruction from microsoft website, nothing helps.

Latest drivers , windows updates, ect. you name it- nothing helps.

I thought about keeping my xbox pass after 3months period , but it's just to much hussle, I already spend nearly a week downloading same game over and overe again . Games take ages to download ( dowloading from else where is much faster), suddenly refuse
to work. I will try to dowload them again after that I give up on xbox pass...

Just wanted to say that I am having the exact same issue. Also with Outer Worlds. I have not found a solution yet. My experience was the following.

I had been playing Outer worlds for a few weeks without issue. About a week ago it suddenly refused to open. The other game I had installed, Age of Empires II, also would not open (previously it did open). I then uninstalled both games.

When trying to reinstall Outer Worlds the download refused to work. It simply does not start the download. No error message is displayed. The UI changes to the progress bar but then back to the install button immediately.

I then reinstalled the xbox game pass application. The Outer Worlds download still did not work.

I then tried to download Subnautica. This worked and is playable.

But I downloaded the gamepass for Outer Worlds so...
