The Outer worlds Save files

I have the game downloaded with game pass. I have played on two different PCs and when the game syncs from the cloud and I try and load a saved point my saves are there but are shaded all in pink. It doesn't allow for me to load up those saves.

I had the exact same issue as OP. I started playing Outer Wolds (OW) on my main gaming rig, but decided to sign up for Shadow so that I could also play on my non-gaming laptop. Everything went smoothly on my Shadow rig, and the cloud saves pulled over just
fine. I was up and running in no time. However, once I got back to my gaming rig, I could not load my cloud saves. They were all present, and everything looked to be fine on the back-end. But, in-game, they all showed up as pink. It was incredibly weird, and
even more frustrating that there were no error texts/notifications to be found. I tried a number of different things (deleting and re-syncing, moving to __LOCAL__, etc.) and nothing seemed to work.

It was after an hour of troubleshooting that I happened to notice one small change to the OW "Settings" page on my Shadow rig, which differed from my gaming rig. The change wasn't what was significant; it was the fact that the two "Settings" pages were different.
I fired up the Microsoft Store on my gaming rig and checked for updates. Nothing out of the ordinary, and nothing showing for OW. However, I decided to check on the OW page directly (within the MS store). I clicked on the three little dots, next to "Play".
Lo and behold, the drop down menu showed an "Update" option. I clicked on it, let it update, fired it back up, and BOOM! Saved games now showed as normal and could be loaded. Apparently, my Shadow rig had updated OW just fine, but my gaming rig didn't notice
the update. No idea why that was, but its fixed now. I also have no idea how to tell what version of OW is running. There doesn't seem to be any sort of version text on the main menu or anywhere else.

TL;DR:

From what I can tell, the pink shading indicates a version mismatch. Open up the Microsoft Store app on both of your machines. Go to the "Downloads and Updates" page and check for new updates. If OW has an update, then update it. If it doesn't show on this
page, then go directly to the OW page (still within the Microsoft Store app). Click on the three dots next to "Play" and see if "Update" is present in the drop down. More than likely, OW will be updated on one machine and not the other. Once the two are updated,
the games should load as normal.

Has the machine without the save created the save file location on this PC?

Saves are stored here:

C:\ Users\USERNAME\Saved Games\The Outer Worlds Windows 10

If you aren't signed in to Xbox Live in the game, it stored save file in a Local user profile. Just needed to go to Saved Games\The Outer Worlds Windows 10 folder user profile, and then move the files from LOCAL to the profile for Xbox Live
