The Outer Worlds massive update?

I bought The Outer Worlds on disc several months ago and have been enjoying the game, but last week my XBox One told me the game needed an update.

The update, it says, is 33 GB! That is more than one-quarter of our monthly internet bandwidth! I have a hard time believing an update to this relatively small game is that big. It's been updating for seven days now and is just over 50%.

Can anyone tell me what's going on and how to fix it? I'd like to play this game again and was hoping I wouldn't have to lose my saves. If I uninstall and reinstall the game, will that stop this update? Will I lose the saves?

i still cannot believe in this day and age that people have internet with usage limits still.

Not sure about other countries but, here in the UK, most Broadband deals have download limits...last time I looked around, most (he big companies anyway) had 50GB a month download limits....if you go over that then you get severely throttled. Having said that, I last looked around maybe 5 years ago so things could have changed

where are you getting that info, i live in the UK and i pay 34 pound a month for unlimited (no usage policy or traffic management) connection, i get over 500Mb down and 50Mb up. my mobile is unlimited at a similar cost and that is on 4g and 5g (5g being limited to certain areas of the country). most of the internet packages in the UK are now unlimited, you can still get capped packages but that is for people that don't want to pay more than a fiver a month.

I'm in Canada. I guess rural here is a little more--rural!

Back in November we switched from a 20 GB monthly service to 75 GB. It's the best we could do. We keep hearing that they're going to upgrade rural service, but so far that's just been talk. Meanwhile all the software companies keep acting as if everyone's bandwidth is unlimited and cheap. I'm really frustrated about this. It probably means I can't keep playing a game I just bought a few months ago. I didn't even finish one play-through.

As I said, last time I looked around was some time ago...and I stayed with my current provider as the other providers had Unlimited products but, in the small print, had a 50GB cap (one may have been 100GB mind).

Ah okay...seems my knowledge is just a tad out of date!! I rarely look around when it comes to a renewal as I like the company I'm with and have never had issues so I don't often know what others are offering
