The Outer Worlds does not start

I HAVE MADE SOME PROGRESS!

1. Disable/disconnect all secondary monitors. If your system is a laptop like mine, use the built-in display.

2. Go to windows display settings and set display scale to 125%

3. Launch the game through its app, not the xbox app or microsoft store

4. The game actually BOOTS to the main menu!

5. The game defaults to a weird arbitrary resolution in "windowed fullscreen" that doesn't fill the whole screen (1536 x 864p)

6. Switching to windowed mode causes the game to immediately crash.

7. Using "alt-tab", "ctrl-alt-del" or any similar function to suspend the game similar causes an instant crash

8. The game CAN be played on secondary monitor by switching to fullscreen mode and connecting the monitor AFTER it starts.

I'm going to forward what I've found so far to obsidian and private division. That's all the unpaid beta testing I can do for now but hopefully someone finds this info useful.

I have already done everything that you've suggested and mentioned it earlier in this thread.

I have already submitted this issue using the xbox feedback tool three times within the last two weeks (on seperate branches with seperate diagnostics, not just spamming the same branch) and received absolutely no responses of any kind.

My language was PG at worst and censoring it with asterisks only makes it appear ruder than intended.

Thanks for keeping us updated with your replies. This has surely been a super disheartening experience for you, but we're still here to help. Have you

checked your purchase history in your Microsoft account to make sure that you've purchased the correct version of The Outer Worlds? There is a version for PC and one for console and if your version is the one for console, then this would explain why it
isn't working.

If you haven't done so already, I would additionally recommend
contacting Xbox Support by requesting a call back so that you can get some further assistance with the issue.

• Log into Support.Xbox.com
  
• Scroll down, Click on Contact Us
  
• Step 2 : Select a Category (PC Gaming), then See other options
  
• Step 3 : Select your Issue/Topic (I recommend Gameplay & Performance.)
  
  • Select - Show contact options
    
  • Select – Request a call from Xbox Support
    

If you do not see the selection that you wish to use for contact, then switch topics until it becomes available as the selections may change from time to time.

Hi try uninstalling Zone Alarm Firewall and disabling Windows Firewall. Disabling Zone Alarm is not enough. It may have to be completely uninstalled.
