From there you can use a new email address to recover your account and have the Microsoft team contact you.

You can change how you sign in, however if you want to completely transfer ownership you would have to remove your original email address.

Oh, and BTW, was the original Microsoft Account/Windows Live ID email at MSN, Live or Hotmail? If so, then the Microsoft Account/WLID is recoverable even though your access to the account may have been lost.

Once an account is deleted the alias is also deleted and can't be reused. It is simply wiped from the Microsoft system. This is from the Microsoft support site,

• If you remove your alias from the account it’s on today, it will be deleted from our systems and isn't recoverable, so you'll no longer be able to use it to send or receive emails.
• Microsoft doesn't recycle aliases once they are deleted. This means it won't be available again as an alias or new account to you or anyone else at a later time.

that’s genuine bs. I have spent over 1,000$ on the account and it’s not recoverable EVEN THOUGH I HAVE ALL THE ORIGINAL INFORMATION?? If you have to original information and the email was changed you should be able to fix it. Fix your account security. They logged on to my account AND LITERALLY CHANGED THE EMAIL WITHOUT NEEDING A VERIFICATION CODE OR ANYTHING ELSE. I WASNT EVEN NOTIFIED.
