The only gripe I have with the system, maybe there is a solution?

    Hey guys,

I've owned since Day One and it has been a great all round system.

The thing I hate most about it is the main power button on the xbox itself? Is there a way to disable that from working? I could then power it on by controller only unless I need a hard reset or whatever.

Its a pretty minor thing but I have two young kids constantly tearing around the house and they only need to brush past it to turn it on. A normal power button would have been better for me that you had to depress. No easy access to a mains switch to turn
it off from there. On a weekend I find myself switching it off all the time. And as I leave the house first for work before anyone is up its quite often on when I get back.

    :)

    In Game Music Option

Black Ops had the option to turn off the in game music, which I loved. Why doesn't MW3 have this option? There is only the only a game volume which is absolutely pointless because I can just turn down the volume on my sound system. I didn't think that
this would annoy me as much as it does and I know that my gripe will just fall on deaf ears but I need to vent my frustration. Maybe, JUST MAYBE, some one from Infinity Ward is listening.

  3. Where are the AA's?

either way they need to quadruple the amount on the big maps, and maybe use the bc2 targeting system. im sick of being owned by the same guy in an indestructible helicopter all game long. its really my only gripe with this game nowadays.

Tie your kids up lol. Don't think there is a way tbh. I have four kid's and don't actually suffer from this problem, they know they aren't aloud near dad's toys lol.

I don't think there is an option to disable the power button.

( I have no idea about this myself ) but I done a quick Google search about disabling the power button and a few posts ( a few on Reddit ) suggest getting some "Electrical Tape" and putting it over the power button, one gamer claimed it stopped his cat brushing
against his console and turning it off.

I stress again though, no idea about this myself, if it works, more importantly is it safe so best look into it first!

It's not something I'd personally try. If you could get a similar tape that wouldn't make a mess of your console, think electrical tape may leave a sticky mess but not sure.

^ Just been reading about electrical tape and depending on which one you go for, like Mr Goat said above it can leave a bit of a mess, well horrible marks.

I guess the most obvious thing to suggest is there anyway you can move you Xbox back a little? What I mean is I have my TV unit, the console sits on the shelf directly below the TV but is positioned well back so if someone walked by and brushed the shelf
itself they don't actually touch the console.

Obviously this might not be possible depending on where you have you Xbox, meaning you might not have room to move it so not really sure what to suggest other than I've read even more about this "Electrical Tap" .. ( becoming quite an expert now lol ) and
the more I read the more I'd say leave it alone, it's not cheap either, well not if you go for a good name.

I have 2 kids tearing around the house as well but I only hook it up when they are in bed plus they know not to go near it or they'll get messed up real bad. Lol

^ "Messed up real bad" ... I almost spat my tea out reading that lol

I'm lucky regarding the kids, son is 24 and moved out, got his own place.

My daughter is coming up to 15 years old so the days of running around the house, bashing into things is thankfully over.

Mind you, I had a 3 month old grandson now, I think I'm just telling my son and his girlfriend that when his at the age when he can start moving about more, climbing up on things, grabbing stuff, he is banned from the house lol The only gripe I have with the system, maybe there is a solution? ;)

    Lol cheers guys.

Yeah its a bit tight on space in there, my HTPC is fairly bulky. I should have probably looked at external storage instead of the multiple drives within the unit. Then the other gear around it leaves little space as far as height goes.

I could look at hooking up some sort of lamp like switch to cut the power to it I guess. Or the alternative, as suggested, try and back it off a little. If I moved its external drive and power brick I could gain a bit of space.

It wouldn't be as bad if the voice commands worked a little better with background noise, like the TV on. I can mute the TV, "Xbox Turn Off" pause "Yes". But by the time I have done that I might as well have got up lol

  12. You could always put it up on a higher plane, like a shelf, where they can't reach it - it's what I would do.

The only gripe I have with the system, maybe there is a solution?

Its all kind of neat in a unit with hidden wires and a wall mounted plasma. It looks good just proving not very practical as it stands. It's one of my worse jobs routing wiring around lol I hate it.

I'll sort it guys, thanks for all the pointers The only gripe I have with the system, maybe there is a solution? :)

My little one is one year old and knows what an xbox is and that you turn it on with the controller.

He has his own controller that he use he loves playing with the xbox but he also knows not to touch it.

Show them how the controller works then you only have to take the controller with cause from there on they will like the controller more.

But maybe they start searching for it and you have a mess in the house so I dont know lol

Yeah admittedly, my little ones have always had an old 360 controller to play with, my youngest is 2 now and has the controller. The other three have their own consoles now.
