The ongoing Xbox one s controller mic mute issue

I bought my sons xbox one s in December 18, with a third part headset mic, this worked fine plugged directly into the controllers for a few months, then the no mic symbol appeared and the mic wouldnt work. Tried all the troubleshooting and still didnt work,
both didnt work, had both replaced by microsoft under warranty and they worked for about a month.

His friends been round with his 3yr xbox one controller and headset, he plugged my sons headset into his 3yr old controller and connected to my sons xbox one s and the mic off symbol changed to on. So a clear test has proven the console is fine and the
headset is, the issue is with the controllers, so whatever microsoft has changed the older controllers work the new ones dont. These are less than 3 month old controllers and effectively dont work as they are designed to. I notice in january a thread shows
microsoft is aware of the issue, when will this get fixed ?

Something else I can suggest would be to try an Xbox Headset Adapter on your controller. It helps keep the 3.5 mm jack in your controller steady so you won't have issues with the mic

My xbox one mic that comes with the xbox has lighting which is flashing on the mute button but i had updated my controller.

I doubt you have an account suspension, and if you're able to connect to the network it should be fine. That guide should help you and see if the issue is related to the controller/console or headset.

Finally i did the soft reset .. and still have the issue

The xbox reboot showed the welcome display ... and the mic muted icon still was there ... not sure what other action i can do ..

(the muted mic icon is on , even without a controller still connect to the xbox)

this is like triying to kill deadpool ... cant see any solution for this .. and we cant play any multiplayer game with mic ..
