The ongoing Kinectless xbox noise problem

I thought I'd make another thread just to bring this issue up again as its sort of vanished with all the recent problems with xboxs not reading games. For those that don't know a lot of the kinectless xbox one versions (mine included and some chatrooms claim
its all or most of them) are suffering from a problem where a loud whining/buzzing noise comes out of the console when it has nothing running A.K.A on the home screen with no games/apps loaded. it appears whenever the console is being set up and the update
is downloaded. the noise goes away whenever a game is loaded and the console acts normally after that.

the purpose I am bringing this up again is to get some more information about this from Microsoft. on a few of the threads a MS representative has said the only way to repair this is to get the console repaired/exchanged as its a hard drive issue.

To me though its more of a software Issue as when I set up my console it worked and sounded normal until the update was applied and as I said above it works normally when a game is played.

So what I am asking is that is their any hope that MS can see if it can be fixed via a patch if not of course I shall have to exchange it since I head back to uni in a few weeks and I don't need that noise blaring in my room.

Kinectless Xbox One Noise

Does the kinectless Xbox One still have that coil noise from a few months back??

I have 2 Xbox One's, the forst is Kinectless version, second is Titanfall bundle with Kinect, both with coil whine pre-update (secon unit less severe). After update, coil whine is gone on the kinectless unit, but still the same on Titanfall bundle. However,
the kinectless One got the horrible disc drive noise, same as DimaK67. Noise will gone after 20 minutes , but is very irritating, specially with Blu-ray discs.

 

Does anybody know if connecting a Kinect stops the noise, But I agree that microsoft needs to seriously look into this issue.

 

I bought got a brand new console a few days ago had the same issue and exchanged it for a new one and still had the same issue it must be with every console it's annoying and looks like they aren't doing anything about it

 

there have been some claims that connecting the kinect camera removes the problem but as it is only affecting kinectless models and the camera on its own hasnt been released yet not many people can fully test it. if this is the only solution however microsoft
need to send out a lot of spare cameras to try regain confidence in their consumers!

JfoZe I think I just posted in a thread you made but ill post here again for you. Yes as I said above it is affecting every Kinectless console and replacing it in the store doesn't work as the noise will appear again when setting up. And yes MS aren't doing
anything about it apart from saying we should send it in for repair/advanced exchange. a representative said on another thread it is a hard drive problem which is so incorrect. if it was the hard drive the console would have been noticeably broken from boot
up but it wasn't in my case anyway the noise appeared after the system update was installed so it is clearly an issue with the software update and hence a patch is all that is needed to resolve the issue!

I hope someone from MS reads this thread WE NEED ANSWERS!

From what I've seen no its only those who bought the Kinectless version of the Xbox One

Hi guys. Hopefully this info can help you all out. I purchased a Kinectless Xbox One from game on the 13th. From the 13th to the 18th, I had to exchange the console FOUR times as they all made this noise. I was getting sick of it, so I got a refund as I
payed £350. I have now purchased a Kinect version for £400 and yet .. it still makes the noise AFTER I applied the update.

Before the update, it was so quiet that I didn't even notice it was on .. I'm giving my Xbox till the end of today to see what happens. If nothing has changed, I'll either move to PC or PS4. I'm sick of this issue. I just want a quiet normal Xbox like everyone
else who can play games and watch movies with no noise .. is that too much to ask for?

 

Feel for you seven and thanks for the info this is the first I have seen where a Xbox WITH Kinect makes the noise.

*sigh* I don't know maybe it is best we get it repaired but I have heard so many problems with people who get a faulty console back or their original back with a note saying it is fine that im afraid to set one up after all it works fine playing games and
thats what you buy the console for

 

Just a curious question to anyone having this noise, are you using a wired or wireless connection to your network?

 

I've just bought an xbox one without Kinect and I'm just installing the update and now my console has this issue. It sounds like almost a shorting out kind of noise, it's proper strange.
