The new Xbox Avatar Editor app

I'm just wondering real quick; do any of our prior unlocks from the Original Xbox Avatars app transfer over? I enjoyed some of those cosmetics I got over time, and they don't show up in the new app. Are they ever going to transfer over, or are they planned
to stay within the old app?

Xbox Insider Program Avatar Quest

I'm a member of the Delta Preview of Xbox Insiders. I went in the app earlier today and found a quest to create a new Avatar using the Xbox Avatar Editor. In step 1 of the quest it asks that you go to the Xbox Avatar Editor app in the "My Games and Apps"
section, however when I go to that section the app is not there. I've searched the store and only found the old Avatar app. I'm not sure how to complete the quest without the new Avatar app which I'm pretty sure it is wanting me to use. Where can I get the
new Avatar Editor?

Changing to original avatar

Hello Knapie,

I'd be happy to provide some input!

I believe the new update separated the new Xbox Avatar Editor App and there is also the Xbox Original Avatar App where you can edit your original avatar and select it to use from there.

Go into the Original Avatar App and see if you can set your original avatar to display from there.

Hi there,

I'm afraid that original avatar items are not compatible with the new Avatars.

There is no news if they ever will transfer over, I personally don't think they will.

You can still use them when using the original avatar.

That sucks. I mean I do kind of understand it, but it is lame; even more recent stuff is lost now like my Halo Wars 2 beta tee. Because I do enjoy the new avatars and would like to use them over the old ones.

I spent almost 3 hours in the chat room with the tech support guy from Microsoft about this exact issue! It took him 3 hours to give me this answer... Go to your PC upgrade your Windows operating system to Windows 10, then download the Xbox avatar editor
app, then once you open it you should get an option to import old Avatar...

Sure that work and all, but what if I didn't have a computer! How is a problem with an Xbox gets off by a PC? One device relying heavily on another for functionality and accessibility is a very very bad idea I think!

Oh yeah I forgot to add the purchases from the old Avatar app cannot be transferred over to the new one! The only way to have access to those those items is to go into the old Avatar app dress your avatar in the items that you want and then import it through
the editor app!

All I know is this issue is a bunch of [Mod Removed - Profanity] and their solutions for it are absolutely atrocious! I mean come on when they were developing the sad thing anybody sync G what about all the purchases these people made beforehand?!

To add insult to injury, when you import your old Avatar app you lose access to some of the new features that are in the upgraded Avatar app! When you
[Mod Removed - Profanity] believe that? I have to lose access the features just because I wanted use some stuff that I bought over a year ago! Ridiculous!

This looks like you have choose to use the Xbox original gamertag, the one from the 360 days and not the Xbox avatar new experience, as the editor for those doesn't look like the one you are using

You could try using the app on PC, 2 apps available, Xbox original Avatars and Xbox avatars Editor

It might be because you need the new style of avatar for some clothes

If you want to update your new Xbox Avatar, we’ve created an app for that: the

Xbox Avatar Editor.

However, if you want to continue using your existing avatar and any of the content you’ve purchased or been awarded for it, you can do that in the

Xbox Original Avatars app.

Deck out your Xbox Original Avatar, and then import it to take the place of your gamerpic or new avatar.
To import your original avatar:

Launch the Xbox Avatar Editor app.
Select Xbox Original Avatar, then choose your original avatar.
Select Import.

Give it a few seconds, and voil ! Your Xbox Original Avatar once again represents you across Xbox.
If you want to use your Xbox Original Avatar as your gamerpic, use the Xbox Original Avatars app. Only the new avatars are able to use the Photobooth feature in the Xbox Avatar Editor.

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the apps

did this with both the new editor app, and the old original avatar app. also tried loading the avatar in the old app, and had no issue. the new one still fails to load the old avatar
