The new update... Oh dear.

. Firstly, cortana, on xbox one at least, the worst speech recognition I have ever, ever experienced. Absolutely dreadful. Never recognises anything I am saying and if it does recognise what I am saying as actual words, yet still not what I actually said
or asked, it searches it on bing and bring up the snap menu which is extremely annoying whilst playing a game. Also the new feature to play songs in the background is awesome but I was extremely shocked to find out Pandora works (which I don't have) but Groove
music (Microsofts own music service!!!) doesn't work. I'm shocked.

Pretty pointless update if u ask me.

The only plus to "Hey Cortana" is that I can talk about the XBox without the Xbox thinking I'm giving it a command.

 

There is no plus to Cortana, but I don't feel the need to talk about Xbox while I'm playing it.

Playing your own music over a game is silly.

The stores organization is much better now.

 

Cortana has worked great for me so far, much more accurate than the Xbox command, though I did have to update the speech recognition on the Kinect. Also, this update fixed my Kinect that hasn't worked for about a year.

 

Cortana has worked pretty spot on for me. Sounds like you need to recaliberate your Kinect or just pronunciate better or cut out background sounds that could interfere.

 

I haven't tried Cortana yet and probably never will get around to it or even use it regularly if I did try it. The Kinect is just straight up garbage, I had to disconnect mine a while ago due to the number of times it would open
the One Guide during a Game when nothing of the like was said.

It's also not a issue of it needing to be calibrated or background noise or any other excuse. Voice recognition on the Xbox One is just flat-out fail. The Kinect Camera and Software was just as bad if not worse. The first time I saw in a Kinect Test that when
my roommates cat walked by and it had "Guest" over its head, I just started laughing at how stupid this thing was. So smart it could identify eyes, nose and a face and place an Icon over a head but then fail to recognize it wasn't even human.

^ That's your experience., mine has been that voice commands work pretty much flawlessly, and Ive never had the One open anything randomly when I have been chatting. Just doesn't happen in my experience. I wont be using Cortana though, I will stick with
the standard.

 

Genchy, False Equivalence. It is not "my experience" that when an animal walks in front of Kinect and Kinect states "Guest" over the animals head. That is a failure of AI Software. Anyone is free to try this simple demonstration
of failure by simply having a pet in their home and doing a Kinect Test with the animal present.

 

Kinect has worked fine for me & still is.

Have had the odd time when it's opened something when I haven't asked,never had it sign a guest in by mistake.

Voice commands have worked about 90% of the time.

After my experience with Cortana in the preview it's not something I will go back to.

Background music is useless to me.

 

Why can't a cat be a guest?

 

I updated last night, still no Cortana in Canada, EH...... physically I'm only 30 mins from the USA border.... the injustice!

 

I only tried Cortana on beta and it wasn't good so I haven't even tried it again. Is it better than it was? At least you can change it back.

 

Elohm, I have a bloody great Alsatian size dog wandering about in front of my Kinect and it NEVER senses it or tries to sign it in. That's my reality. Shame you cant just have a civil conversation about something without trying to be smart.
