The new headset/chat adapter is horrible.

My friends and I all got the adapter and the sound quality of the chat is very subpar. Constant crackles and pops and a buzzing sound that can be heard by your friends whenever you scroll through menus or pull on the trigger buttons. It's so bad we just
went back to the old headset that came with the XB One. I hope MS plans on replacing them or giving us a firmware update SOON because some of us paid good money for 3rd party headsets and accompanying cords, equipment, etc. 2 of us ahve Tritton 720, one of
us has an older Turtle Beach and another has one of the new TB and they all have the same problems, so its not the headsets.

buy the chat adapter, then spend a few more quid buying the relevant bits to link it all in to the chat adapter as it will give you both chat and audio for your headset anyway, adapter is £20 then maybe another £5 to link the bits in, cheaper than a new headset

 

XBOX One Chat Adapter & Turtle Beach Issue

Actually the chat adapter that they are selling as of today does send both game audio and chat audio. There are even two buttons on the adapter itself that you can use to adjust the game audio vs chat audio percentage. The new Polk headset and the two
new Turtle Beach X1 headsets get all game and chat audio through the new stereo headset adapter that was released today.

I imagine that your modified version of the adapter is actually a much better solution for 3rd party headset users, because it was modified off of the chat microphone and adapter that came with the X1. It was designed to just deliver chat audio back and
forth.

Now that Microsoft has gone down the road of both game and chat audio coming through the controller and adapter, it has changed the playing field. It is great if you use a headset that doesn't have any other audio signal coming to your headset.

Also, I did look through the link above. It is where I got the idea to turn game audio to 0% and chat audio to 100% coming through the adapter. Thanks for the idea though.

 

Did you update your controller? There is an option to do so in the settings menu since the update was released last week. Make sure the controller is plugged into the console via usb cable and that the adapter and headset are both plugged into the controller
as well. On the console go to Settings>System>Update Controller.

Let me know if that improves the issue.

I have had issues not just with the adapter but with the controller itself, the sound quality of my voice is the main problem.. Everyone I have played with says I sound horrible, although I can hear everyone much better than with the included chat headset
(I am using Astro A40's).. My controller is suffering constant disconnects and it even disconnected while it was plugged in with the play and charge cable.. The only way I can get it to reconnect is to pull the battery pack and turn it back on, I am using
only microsoft branded products, play and charge, headphone adapter etc.. I can deal with sounding like poo, mostly because I cant hear me, but the disconnects are becoming a serious issue, hopefully they can fix it with a firmware update, but who knows..

 

I've returned the chat adapter and stereo headset because of all the issues. I'll just use the chat headset that came with the console cause I have a hunch that is the only headset the developers used when developing the ONE. I guess no one at microsoft
had the foresight to see that people might want to actually use a 3rd party headset.

 

The issue with the chat quality is that the firmware for the adapter is making the microphone SUPER sensitive when using party chat. Position the mic far from your face and then talk. People will think you sound fine.

Also, make a call on the Skype app. You'll also notice that your voice sounds crystal clear.

This is absolutely inexcusable on Microsoft's part and they need to release an emergency update ASAP.
