The (NAT Type : Moderate) curse

Hello.

First of all sorry for my bad english

This is my first time in my life to post on forum and I hope you help me and thnx.

I have moderate nat and uPnp not successful

When i turn on uPnp in my router the error msg go but my nat still Moderate

When I try and port forwarding xbox live ports and have upnp on I still get moderate nat

And using port forwarding without upnp I get the first error again, it's seems I have to make sure that upnp is enabled when I try to get open nat in any way

And it's the same with DMZ,

DMZ + upnp = moderate nat

DMZ without Upnp = moderate nat with upnp error

And now you're thinking that the problem is from the ISP side but HOWEVER

Sometimes I try to use DMZ alone or Port forwarding alone or with upnp on and I get open nat and I get to play and chat but when I close my xbox it's go to moderate again and I try to make it open again and again with luck

Okay, it may be down to your NAT Type being strict or moderate. Have a look at the

Nat Type Strict (Or Moderate) to find out if you have a strict or moderate NAT Type, and how to resolve it.

We suggest trying Alternate Port selection, go to Settings>Network>Network Settings>Advanced Settings>Alternate Port Selection>Manual settings>Select port select the last port on the list and give this a shot and let us know of any
changes!

Ok thx for replying, I tried to use DMZ without upnp and I selected the last port and nothing changed then I turned upnp on and rebooted my router and now I have unavailable Nat type with teredo error even tho I have IPv4 and not ipv6 because I heard that
the tredo error has something to do with ipv6 anyway I restarted my xbox to see if something changes and it did, now my nat is still moderate but my port is 54145 and its usually 3074 and now I selected the last port as you said and now I got unavailable nat
type with teredo error then I clicked on automatic and the port is now 3074 and it's still unavailable and thnx

Thanks for reaching out! I'm sorry to hear about the NAT type and UPnP.



Another step you may want to try is to create
a static IP for the console. This will help dedicate the settings you create when you
port forward.

I have assigned a static ip for my xbox on my router with DHCP and I didn't do something wrong and again thnx for the reply

Have you tried to find your router on Setup a port forward in your router to allow incoming connections for multiplayer games, VOIP, DVR, and security cameras. just select your router brand and model and they explain step by step which ports are required to get the max out of your
router

 

Yeah I tried and just like I said I did nothing wrong because I got open nat at some point even more I have more then 7 ports for xbox live are port forwarded, but now i'm trying to get open nat with DMZ because it's easier to turn it of or on for testing

Appreciate if you can post up the make and model of your router, as well as the make and model of your modem (if this is not a single device).

Do you connect your Xbox with cable, or wireless?

Do you connect multiple Xbox to the same router/Internet connection?

If you have Instant-on power mode enable, then I suggest you try and set your consoles power mode to

Energy-saving mode.

Make sure your router has UPnP ticked enable, and remove (if any) your console's IP from port forwarding rules, along with the DMZ.

Be sure to answer all of my questions and let us know how it goes and we'll go from there.

 

Ok i'm Very thankful for your reply before I answer your reply I was just talking to the ISP worker about the nat problem and he literally did nothing he said it's from the game side even tho I told him it's the nat not the game and ur network problem not
the game and I tryed to explain the ports problem and in the end he said it's the xbox side without any details .

Anyway sorry for telling you all that but I wanted to say I got more help here than my network provider and thnx

Anyway, my router model is "ZXHN H168N V3.1".

I use cable.

I have energy save mode on.

Right now I was trying to open the nat again without any succeed and at the moment I have upnp enabled and DMZ enabled in my router and in the xbox it says I still have moderate nat with no errors but I did the nat test and it's still moderate then I clicked
LB RB LT RT in the same time to see the full details for nat and I got "Your network is behind a UPnP port-restricted NAT"

With 0x00000400000000 status code

And that's it

Extra information:

1. I use IPv4 (idk if I can use Ipv6 but in my router I see a ipv6 switch opinion).

2. Sometimes and I mean most of the times when I try to do the nat test I get "can't get Teredo ip address" and sometimes I see the nat type is unavailable with teredo error msg but I think this two is just because my Internet speed, I just refresh the
network settings page and it's all back to normal

3. Every time I do any change to the router settings I restart everything

4. I only want open nat just because I want to play my favorite game darksouls 3

Could you disable the firewall on your router (completely).

Do you have any IPv6 service enabled on your router?

What type of WAN service do you have (ADSL, DS-lite)?

You shouldn't mix DMZ, UPnP and port forwarding. Therefore, could you just have UPnP enabled on your router.

Make sure you restore your Xbox network settings to factory default.

Contact your ISP. And ask for a public IP address because you need NAT Open.

He ought to please you. Maybe you'll have to pay something.
